Source: The Sun CHRIS EUBANK has told David Haye to carry on talking. Haye reckons he will clean up the heavyweight division by knocking out each and every 'fat slob' put in front of him. And the 27-year-old has already called out WBO, IBO and IBF champ Wladimir Klitschko — despite having just one heavyweight bout under his belt. This content is protected BACKING ... Chris Eubank Haye's outspoken style has ruffled more than a few feathers but Eubank believes the Hayemaker has the makings of the perfect showman. The super-middleweight legend said: "Boxing is viewed by the public as an entertainment business so it's good that David speaks so openly about his desires and expectations. "It causes people to sit up and watch. "It's not a bad thing to say, it's not a bad way in which to talk. "Naturally, it interests the public because they want to see if he's going to be the man he says he is. "People are waiting to see what will happen now and if he can back up what he has said." Haye plans to have two high-profile fights before going toe-to-toe with Klitschko next year. And Eubank believes the undisputed cruiserweight champion's confidence will guide him to more glory. He added: "Where's there a will, there's a way." Have to say I agree, esp in America where I find Haye does alot more talking lol but i find its good as draws interest into the HW div. In interviews in the UK I must say is he very down to earth, so he has two sides to him. What you lot think, should he keep up the talking?
A more exciting heavyweight division means boxing's name as a whole improves, so by all means keep talking, but you'd better be able to back it all up
I agree with Eubank. It gets people to sit up and take notice which is very important in this lacklustre heavyweight division of today. Also, as Haye has said before, he probably will not be fighting untill late this year so by speaking to the press often like he is it keeps his name out there. There is no point blasting out two very good cruiserweights in Mormeck and Maccarinelli then going underground for 9 months in preperation for your heavyweight debut with no one hearing from you inbetween. If Haye had done this then alot of the casual boxing fans whos interest in him would have been tweaked after his past two fights, would lose interest or forget about him.
His talking is cool and all but damn why is he trying to target Wladimir so fast, that's like trying to grab a bull by it's horns, I want him to have a measure of success in the HW division but I want Wlad to beat him which I think he does with ease.
eubank - conundrum. the man never legitimately even attempted to crack the US market himself, and here he is trying to impart wisdom on a countryman who has the balls to go for it. haye and hatton are such a credit to british boxing - because guys like eubank, benn and calzaghe - all outstanding fighters - never put themselves on the line when it mattered. and that is what hurts british boxing.
David Haye is an exciting fighter and charismatic personality. He can only do GOOD things for boxing. He brings excitement inside and outside of the ring. We need one hundred more like him in the drowsy heavyweight division.
