Fantastic, I tried out the tips for the left hook and it made a big difference. I was rotating my foot but not cocking my other shoulder to 'whip' into the target so to speak. Might be my best punch now
That's just awesome. Eubank Sr should become a trainer (he did actually train the Angolan Olympic Team for a year or so recently).
'Ricky was reckless. I imagine he didn't listen to the trainer, Floyd Senior. But when he did counter punch after the first round, Ricky was doing good before he lost his control again. 'He may have possessed a faster foot speed than Pacquaio, but Pacquaio was in control enough to use multi-directional foot movement that caused Hatton to keep having to change direction once he'd got close to catching up with him. Ricky would then get frustrated, throwing wild punches to try to close the distance, and Pacquaio's masterful movement would come into play in that as soon as he'd land on Ricky, he'd weave and side step to avoid exchange. 'Ricky wanted to fight, Manny wanted to box and punch. Pacquaio has the discipline and conditioning to weave and side step after almost every punch or combination he throws. Maximo Pierret taught this to me and I put it into practice in one of my best wins against Graciano Rocchigiani.' -CE09
You should be able to weave and step in any direction after any combination or punch, thats why we have a stance. Try doubling up the jab on the heavy bag, slip, weave, whatever to either side, back and forward and come back with a good right and left or left and right, i think its a good drill because after all the footwork and the jabs and range finding with your feet you will feel if your not on balance enough for a strong shot or if your smothering/reaching with your work for the last 2 shots.
