Spot on. Froch has already sorta hinted he would't want to fight GGG but you never know. Wtf is up with Ward? I's he injured or is it more to do with boxing politics. It's **** being a boxing fan in this era the fights you want to see rarely get made.
Ward was trying to sue goosen to get out of his contract, now that goosen is gone and ward has used up all legal avenues I don't know exactly what is up. I just view him as retired tbh.
You defo have a point that there was better opponents out there for Eubank but that was a superb era. GGG has'nt fought anyone as good as Benn or Watson etc. It's hard to judge them in a fantasy match up because we know Eubanks strenghs and flaws againt brilliant boxer and fighters even if they were not the best of his era. For me right now GGG is a brilliant boxer beating up on the lesser comp of a **** era of middles.
i agree, Golovkin is something special, he is THE most intimidating fighter since Tyson 30 years ago. With all due respect Froch had never been down either until he fought Taylor
I think Gonzalez is more intimidating than Golovkin. Really nobody has given him a fight between 105 and 112. He's a three weight world champ and he's got unique stoppages over fighters better than anyone GGG has mixed with. Not to say Golovkin won't end up more intimidating - but he's not the most terrifying fighter right now IMO.
Golovkin is no more intimidating than Tszyu was, or many other big punchers have generally looked against his level of opp. ****, Don Lee on his way up would have crushed 90% of these guys.
Well the poll shows at least one thing. There are 15 people on this board that know less than NOTHING about Eubank Sr. I wouldn't be surprised though if the same fools believe GGG hits harder than the Cruiserweight Carl Thompson, the only man to stop Eubank on a closed eye, not by KO.
Eubanks technical knowlegde of boxing is tremendous - http://www.boxingforum24.com/showthread.php?p=16746372
Ward will fight again:smoke And after watching numerous fights of Ward, and GGG if they were to meet, Ward would mop the floor with him, but he's gotta get back n the ring sooner rather than later..
And Ezzard Charles and Archie Moore would wipe the floor with the MW Marvin Hagler And Marvin Hagler would wipe the floor with Floyd Mayweather... Be real SS, the thread is about men in the SAME weight divisions. I have been watching boxing a long, long time and I am shocked that a new pulverizing talent like GGG is not given the credit he is due, given the fact that he so far has decimated whoever has cujones to fight him...No he is not a BS artist like Floyd Mayweather, the Harry Houdini escape artist, but this man is a gentleman with a boyish smile and killer hands. You wanna compare, compare him with men of his own weight, not a Ward who in the older saner days at 168 would be a light heavyweight...Fair is fair...
Golovkin is still in the early to tell phase His detractors call his opponents bums though one is a former unified titleholder and others have given his contemporaries difficult fights and he has destroyed the same guys with ease He's got a lot of solid wins but not great wins I think if his success translates to the next level he will be a real force. Nothing indicates it won't On a side note I'm American and Eubank was before my time, needless to say I'm not exposed to much of his career Is he a great? Is he bullet proof in fantasy fights like a lot of other greats Or was he just very popular and had success at a relatively young weightclass without much history
Eubank had everything except the will to be great. He openly stated he hated the sport. He only did it for the money. This attitude is surprising when you see him fight. Heart of a lion. He was initially a champ at middleweight. He took the title off Nigel Benn, who destroyed Barkley inside a round. The fight was epic. Benn being a ferocious puncher threw everything at Eubank. Eubank had broken ribs, and needed stitches to his tongue, but still took everything and stopped Benn. He could be lazy in the ring, barely doing enough to win, but he was unorthodox but technically well schooled, came on like a demon in the championship rounds. As for his chin, it's as good as anyone I've ever seen in thirty years watching the sport. It certainly isn't a case of embellishing a fighter from yesteryear.
