Instead of Nigel Benn being in the opposite corner that fateful night in Febuary 1995

What if it was his arch rival Chris Eubank instead?

Eubank V McCllenan............how does the fight go?

    Eubank UD.

He would be able to take anything that McClellan threw at him, and was a better BOXER than Benn - so wouldn't just stand there and slug.

Probably Eubank by UD, but McClennan could knock him out...

    :yikes

    Really?

He would have a hard enough job landing on Eubank often enough - don't forget the titanium chin.

I don't think he could. If he couldn't knock out Benn then he isn't knocking out Eubank. His chin was granite. I think Eubank takes a decision in this one.

If Carl Thompson couldn't KO Eubank I don't see McClennan doing it.

Thats a pretty dumb statement, considering that Carl Thompson fought Eubank when he was like 35 and is not nearly as strong a puncher as McClellan.

Carl Thompson KO Rate - 62.5%
    First Round KO's - 4

Gerald McClellan KO rate - 85.%
    First Round KO's - 20

GMAN fought at 160 but would come into the ring at 180 most of the time, he was severely weight drained most of the time and that actually had a lot to do with why he had that brain blood clot. Yet look at his power.

To say Thompson hits harder than Gman is just stupid, watch some of their Knockouts and the Nature of the damage done to the opponent... Time and Time and again GMAN completely put people to sleep, really deadly. How can you argue this?

Gman was one of the great knockout artists of the last 30 years, shame what happened to him.... but there is no doubt in my mind that he could have Knocked out Eubank... he could have knocked out just about anybody.

But like I said , Eubank was a better boxer in his prime and it would be a toss up fight

McClellan UD. Eubank wasn't in good form in 95. Looked like garbage in his rematch with Collins.

Look at my above post... McClellan could have knocked just about anybody out. If Michael Watson could drop Eubank ( watson is a good puncher , but in no way is he on par with McClellan ) , than Gman could certainly do damage.

If you matched them around 1992 I would say Eubank UD, clearly.

Pre-Watson II it would be a stoppage for Eubank.

Good point regarding 1995...... actually it goes back to 50-50. I retract my statement. But GMan isn't KOing Chris.

How can you be so confident of this? McClellan was a monster and it DEFINITELY is a possibility

McClellan was a monster - but I feel he is being overrated to a degree in light of what happened to him.

The same is true of Diego Corrales and to a lesser degree, Michael Watson.

I would stick my house on Eubank either winning or hearing the final bell, because he was matched with plenty of big punchers, none of which even put a dent in him. Not many guys go 20 rounds with Nigel Benn and escape with little more than a headache.

Chris was great at making people miss and lunge in recklessly, and also had excellent conditioning to back up his beard. His resume is **** weak, granted - but don't underestimate.
