I think this would be a cracking fight that would most resemble Eubank-Benn. Eubank has the advantages of better jab, faster, excellent radar/reactions, good countering ability, ATG chin, big power, better outside fighter, stronger, more athletic. Briscoe is a great inside fighter, great combination puncher, technically better, great bodypuncher, less sloppy, excellent power, great defensive roll, excellent. I actually think Eubank could pull off the win in a war as this sort of Bennesque match up really suits him at his best but it would be a very close back and forth fight
The people in this thread are ridiculous. Eubank would definitely beat Briscoe. A guy with a great chin, fast hands, some pop and a good jab beats Briscoe everytime. Eubank by decision and I'm not from Britan.
Well Chris certainly liked fighters who came to him. But Bad Bennie does this to such an extent that Eubank might well overdose on this Philly Prescription ! such was Bad Bennie's potency of Effort. certainly i fell tha Eubank would not sign up for Bennie's old stomping ground championship distence of 15 rounds. but even over 12 rounds Chris might be in trouble as Briscoe was not a fighter that you could take a rest with. - there was no Brakeman on Bennie's Train. Nigel Benn might actually of been more dangerous then Bennie - in his attacking flare ups, but these were intermittent, pre and post attacking surge Chris found time to Box and Fox and sneak a breather albeit short, But whilst Bennie is not "suddenly Dangerous" like Benn, Bennie is always hurtfull with his constant unrelenting pressure, not only is Bennie hitting you to Head and Body but is forcing you to constantly move and respond and be on Red Alert it really is Def-Con One all the way with Bennie. Bad Bennie will simply keep attacking and working three high speed minutes of each round, i feel that Chris will be forced to put 9 rounds of energerial eggs into a six rounds Basket, deniel any respite will be gasping for Air by the ninth round, when Bennie pressures he does so behind a thumping Jab, That Bennie aims for the back of the head - Through the FRONT ! so evan at range Chris will have to expend energy that he might be able to ration and preserve against most other middles, moving back and off to the sides will probably get a "So What" shrug from Bennie as he gets on with his usual day in his office. Bennies Jab just fills the space on his way to his favourite close quarters dwelling. Both have great chins are tough and willing to endure punishment, skills and styles aside they are equals when it comes to determination, but often Chris seems determined to avoid trench warfare, but Bad Bebbie seems happy to dig the trenchand push into it then gleefully jump in after him to attend to business, Bennie was only stopped once by Valdez which seems an anomily as Valdez could not do it the other two times they met, neither could Monzon or a host of top quality middles, Even when old and creaking with age, upcoming talents like Hagler or David Love elected not to go head to head in a trading war with Bennie. I can see Chris initially using his adroitness to win some early rounds and look confident, but Bad Bennie's pressure is constantand will tell, by the mid rounds Chris might be ahead by a few rounds but is noticably not standing his ground, but electing to break off and try to pinch rounds with brief flurries and longer clinches, by the 9th i think that Bennie will have clawed back any deficit and Chris will devote the last three rounds to survival with much tired Fiddle-Faddle, Chris's unortadox movements, assisted by his tiredness might assist him in this aim, but when the smoke Clears Theres Bennie Again, Chugging Forward eager for Battle, The Philly Tank beats the Brighton Truck clearly on Points in a faced paced thriller. for Bennie's contant Pace is his Ace.
Briscoe runs him out of gas, Eubanks only fought about a minute a round ,he did not like pressure, which is what Bennie brings to the table.
Briscoe too slick, too tough, too seasoned and too brazen...all at the same time, for Eubank. Briscoe by comfortable decision.
Briscoe is about the worse fighter I can think of for Eubank. Especially at 160 body shots bothered Eubank. And you wanna put him in there with Briscoe???
I agree to a considerable extent. Eubank did however look better against aggressive fighters as opposed to counterpunchers. Still, Bennie is probably too savvy, energetic and tank-like for him over the distance, especially, as you say, to the body.
