Chris Eubank vs Bernard Hopkins at 160!!! Who wins?

Hopkins. If calzaghe beat eubank, Hopkins would destroy him.

Hopkins is the more complete and more skilled fighter. I don't think either are great on the front-foot/on the attack, but Hopkins is more effective there by a clear distance imo. I think he'd control the tempo and force Eubank to come to him, which wouldn't serve Chris too well here. Hop by UD, but not a masterclass domination by any means.

Eubank was way out of his prime against Calzaghe. So throw that fight out of your mind when talking about Eubank Vs Hopkins at 160. And acknowledging that Hopkins imo would win a close decision against Eubank. Eubank at 160 was a great counter puncher and had very fast hands but he had problems with good boxers. Hopkins imo would take advantage of this and box his way to a close vicotory.

Eubank lost twice to steve collins, hard to see bernard hopkins suffering the same faith!

 

Who above MW did Hopkins fight (besides Calzaghe who he lost to) that was as tough and as good as what S Collins became at SMW? Nobody and Eubank fought Collins to 2 close decisions. One a debateable loss and the other a split decision. I cant even think of a MW Hopkins beat as good as S Collins at MW and Collins was a bit of a G Johnson late bloomer.
Hopkins has a proven style weakness to fast 2 handed fighters his own size. When Hopkins has fought that style he hasnt had much success ie Jones Jnr, J Taylor twice, Calzaghe, Pascal. Hopkins hasnt been able to win 7 world title fights and 8 fights in total. Eubank is far better than Mercado. Eubank is Hopkins size. Eubank can fight in many different styles.
Eubank is far better than anyone Hopkins beat at MW and better than the fighters Hopkins lost to.

I would have to go with Eubank in this one. Eubank was a much better fighter at 160 than he was at 168, were he tended to be a bit lazy. If we assume that Hopkins isnt allowed to delve into his "bag of tricks" than I think Eubank ud's him

 

He got outworked in the first fight and he could of won it but he was not prepared to ko Collins in round 10, shades of Watson-Eubank II
The second fight he clearly got outworked and really should of moved up by then

Even in his prime Hopkins wasnt exactly the busiest fighter

 

Hopkins. His jab would be a big weapon in this fight, I see him winning rounds with it early and eventually making Eubank have to come forward, which plays right into Bernard's hands. To his credit, Eubank really was a thinking man's fighter, but I think he gets lured into thinking too much in this one and his activity rate suffers terribly.

 

Hopkins, whole class above Eubank.
