Chris Eubank vs Chong-Pal Park At SMW

If the fight is in South Korea. If Eubank 'falls asleep' for 15 rounds (which is unlikely, but possible), then maybe Park can get the nod.

The reality is Park could bang, but Eubank had a pretty decent chin, thus Park's punch would not be an issue. Park's soft chin makes him a KO risk from the first bell.

I take a messy, even, and possibly boring fight for half a dozen or so rounds, before Eubank wins with a sudden bombing mission in the middle rounds.

 

Came on to say just that.

Eubank via K.O in the mid-rounds would be my prediction.

Any true boxing fan would use boxrec amongst other sources. They're not always right.

 

Depends on how much Eubank is able to discourage\unsettle Park with his punches.

Eubank hit hard(much more so than his record initially suggests imo) but he wasn't an Obel or Baek level banger.He's probably on the cusp of the sort of power that would unhinge Park, but added to his style it gies the Korean a better chance.

Park could come into the fight if Eubank doesn't throw enough punches and stays in cutie mode for long stretches.Similar to how he did against Lindell Holmes, who was a harder puncher than Eubank, but fought like a cute boxer-puncher at 168.

Overall though i tend to think Eubank had enough power and offence to keep Park in check, and he's not outdone in the speed and reflexes department either.It would be a chessmatch where Eubank is more liable to get his KO at some point than Park is likely to dictate enough exchanges.

I think Park would have a better shot at Calzaghe actually.He would have little to fear from Joe's slop.

Park's soft chin was notorious at the time, especially by Korean boxing fans that would have saw a lot more of him(especially on the way up) than any of us.One of the guy's main nicknames was something like "the glass jaw" for gods sake.

More importantly he was obviously carrying a Ken Norton-esque nervousness against a certain level of big punching fighter and you can see it in most of his losses, he just goes to pieces and any poise goes out the window.The guy wasn't Amir Khan though and a talented fighter who was heavy handed himself, so obviously there were some exceptions against lower level fighters that could bang; he also destroyed Roy Gumbs who was a vicious puncher.But against fighters a few notches up from that he seemed to be walking a tightrope.

And i can't agree he had so few attributes either.he was a talented boxer-puncher that could throw some really nice punches and countered from ring-centre very well most of the time.

 

I think his fitness was shocking in the first Fully Obel fight.

I've got that fight.Might be interesting to check it out again if he hit as hard as you say, as that would be one of Park's best performances against a puncher.I can't remember really taking much of note from the bout first time around, but it's been a long while.

 

Didn't seem to be able to stay relaxed did he?.He just tried to go for broke when he got hit it seemed to me.Brave though.

 

No, he didn't, very erratic.
