Valdez was in the master's level of great middleweights and would have outclassed Mr. Eubank, who was strictly an unexposed, sheltered British phenomenon only.
I think I'll stay out of it. No, Valdez obviously tested himself against the best. Hes got this in the bag.
Valdez was just better. I never went a lot on Eubank, who (bar the odd knockout) was a sloppy, inaccurate puncher with a horrible style. He only liked to work for half a round and the rest for the other half, but against Valdez that wouldn't wash. Valdez would be pressing, driving Eubank backwards most likely, and hitting him as hard as Nigel Benn ever did but more often.
I didnt rate Eubanks highly,his work rate was abysmal ,he dodged the best men of his era ,and defended against more than his share of dubious challengers .Eubanks got some debatable decisions , but there would be nothing debatable here ,he would be just glad to finish on his feet Valdez is a league above him.
Eubanks is getting pretty underrated in this thread. He had fast hands, good radar, could really bang when he wanted to, amazing physical condition, strong as an ox, ATG chin, massive fighting heart. Yes he made a few school boy errors but he wouldn't get outclassed here I think Valdez probably wins but it wouldnt be easy for him
I always liked Eubank. Great character,and a very good middleweight. Rodrigo Valdez was a great middleweight. That's the difference.
