He never makes anyone favourite boxer lists, just wanna know what you thought of him as a boxer, in my opinion he was knocked down too much outside boxing by all the media sabotage he put himself under getting mocked, sometimes I think he was there to be brought down by British people who didnt really want to see him achieve big things and in the end it seemed to take its toll and he seemed to be disinterested in boxing. He has gave us some cracking bouts Benn in 1990 & 1993, his bout with Watson was greatness, yes the bout was very tragic but this epitomized survival for me where Eubank looked out to come from no where with a uppercut out of no where. And then you had the Collins series which was exciting too, Collins said Eubank was the toughest opponent he faced, he seemed to hardly take pain. Actually he never looked out in his entire career, every time he got knocked down he got up, like when he faced Calzaghe, Calzaghe said he hit him with one of the hardest punches he has claimed to have thrown and Eubank just got up smiled and said good shot, very good shot, well done 11 more rounds to go. Its a shame he put himself in the firing line of the British tabloid media who were hellbent of ruining him, they didnt seem to know what they had in Eubank who should have accomplished way more than he did.
Brilliant character, great boxer, showboater, unorthodox. They don't make 'em like Eubank!! He's what boxing is about for me, he had great fights, split the public opinion, was arrogant, cocky, flamboyant, annoyed opponents and fans, could box when he had to, brawl when he had to. Pretty much the perfect package for me in terms of building a boxer, even if he didn't have major success like some.
Ive only seen interviews with him and he seems like a good bloke but i havnt seen him fight... all i know is he fought benn, and to me benn is one scary mofo so he deserves respect... also i heard it was a good fight no?
It's just funny that this peculiar sensitive gentleman with the high-pitched soft-spoken voice was one of the toughest *******s to ever lace 'em up. Talked the talk and walked the walk.
He was brilliant, even though I can't remember too much of him to be honest. I loved his character in and out of the ring.
Chris was a ****ing great fighter,he had everything stamina, power, strength, great handspeed and was a good combatitive boxer............BUT HE WAS MAD AS A HATTER....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CO-jsOiJfxs ^^ This sums Eubank up. The fight they had on this occasion Eubank knocked out Benn on his feet, and Benn coudln't really defend. On Judgement Day was just wild entertainment that ended a draw even though I thought it was a tough call on Eubank even though everyone said Benn won but was more biased opinion cause everyone hated Eubank. Eubank tried to stand up for everything that was right and just looked like a pompous ass in doing so, and to him he probably thought the crowd were the bad guys not him.
it was a clear benn win. it was close but i saw benn win eubanks weakness was inactivity and winning only enough to win he did suffer form stamina problems and if you pushed him he wouldnt be able to keep up, But what he could do was conserve his energy with precise punches which can rack up alot of points. he was also very hearty and a mean granite chin so when he went on the front foot he could defintly slug with the best of them
"Lets have some parliamentary procedure" Love the way he won't even look at Benn, sits with his back towards him the whole way and calls him intolerable. That feud was pure HATE, don't get many feuds like that anymore.
Eubank is a very, very good...and subsequently very, very underrated fighter. Is he one of my favs...nah. But I do have enormous respect for the guy as a fighter.
chris eubank along with benn, watson, collins and herol graham made up one of the great eras of british middleweight boxing. chris was one hell of a tough guy and i had the pleasure of being at one of his bouts, the first watson fight. he held the WBO middleweight and super middlewgt belts for a long time, he deserves respect for being a good world champion!!!
He was a gent, flamboyant, eccentric, utterly entertaining to watch and a great boxer. I don't understand why he's not regarded up there with the highest national treasures in the the UK. I mean he often didn't sit down inbetween rounds!!!:deal
Simply the best. Eubank's battles with Watson and Benn are absolute classics. It's a shame these guys didn't mix with more of their American counterparts.
