Good post. I cant believe people are high on Arreola as it is, but the fact HBO seem to have some belief in the guy is astounding. The comparison with Peter is accurate, he is just a worse version as you say.

Despite this, he is in line to fight Wlad apparently....

Although apparently there is bad blood between them. They sparred in the leadup to Barrett or Macca, (not sure) and it got veryb heated, whereupon Haye decked him with a huge right hand.

Only if Haye fights really stupid. Haye has got a load of physical talent but imo he doesn't utilize it enough. He'd rather fight aggressively and exposed than box. I think this will be his downfall at hw. His style and lack of experience will negate his talents exposing his weaknesses. exciting? yes but not smart.

He could easily outbox this guy but if he gets lured into a slugfest like he did against Barrett, he gives Arreola his only real chance. Arreola does have heavy hands and can throw pretty good inside combinations.

Haye reminds me somewhat of a younger wlad in the sense he puts everything into his punches. WLad was never ultra aggressive but he let his hands go with max power. He looked like a prime welterweight letting his hands go against mercer and in the first brewster fight. but his body couldn't sustain that output and he paid the price. he learned from his mistakes. Now, he understands his limits and fights accordingly. exciting? no but VERY smart.

I would still favor haye over arreola though, but like they say with wlad, it's never a sure thing with this guy

 

Yeah, I guess you could say Arreola is a standup proffesional, if you discount the fact that he has the work ethic of a ****ing cat, and continually shows a lack of respect to his fans and opponents by showing up in worse and worse shape for his fights.

BTW, if Wlad lost to a club fighter like Arreola, his legacy would really go down the pan. Haye is at least a former undisputed champion, with amateur pedigree, skills, speed and comes to fights in shape.

I can also gurantee that if Haye did beat Wlad or Vitali, he would say right after the fight that his trash talking etc was just to promote the fight (as it is) and will complement the guy.

 

i hope not. Povetkin and Valuev are far more interesting at this pt. I can't understand how he would fight arreola first when povetkin is the ibf mandatory. get rid of him. The only thing i can think of is cause wlad is supposed to fight in the states next time and hbo wants to match him with a hypejob.

still, wlad can draw 15k in new york at MSG or in los angeles at staples against either Povetkin or Valuev. Huge Russian/Ukranian population here.
