Juam Manuel Marquez wasn't a bum. And a guy who fought Rocky Juarez in Texas and Hiruyuki Enoki in Japan isn't exactly someone who was content to feast solely upon home cooking.

He's been a polarizing figure on these boards, but as time goes on, I suspect he'll be appreciated as one of the previous decade's better fighters.

I'm not one to defend Naseem Hamed but at least he stepped up and got beaten, Chris John will be remembered for taking one tomato can too many in my book, and eventually there was a tomato can who fought back and KO'ed his ass into retirement, ty can. Too bad really he had a few good wins earlier in his career, but then decided to play it safe.

Funny some said the same about Ottke years ago, it never happened, and few will even know of CJ in ten years.

He'll be remembered as someone who defeated Juan Manuel Marquez. Not saying he'll be remembered as an ATG, but btx the numbers and that scalp, he's probably getting inducted into the IBHOF at some point down the road.

Vetyeka, who stood in the pocket abd fought tough with a prime Hasegawa...tomato can? :huh

That comment slipped by me somehow. I think my brain must have subconsciously rejected it out of hand as a caffeine crash mirage or something.

    who cares

the fighter of the "decade" never had the balls to unify his title and there were 3 titles in the WBA alone
now it appears he doesnt even have the balls to rematch the one guy who beat him :-(

if there was a hall of very good, put Chris John in first ballot
hall of fame? wtf did he do ? defend 1 of the 8 featherweight titles for 20 defenses?
morales fought barerra 3 times, pac 3 times, was a beast in his prime and fought top guys like Danny Garcia 2 times and Marcos Madena at the end of his career... and you guys give Chris John credit for fighting Hasegawa 1 time and JMM 1 time..... WHOOPIE.....he should be in the building next door to a real hall of famer like Morales
