Hey, whaddayaknow, John is fighting tomorrow! (I guess most of you guys already knew that.) It's a title fight against some guy named Shoji Kimura. I can't find if it's being broadcast. I see that Jimmy Lennon Jr. is going there, so maybe it will be taped? - but no mention of it as being part of any broadcast. Granted, there are a few um, slightly higher-profile fights going on tomorrow, but still.... -And that's my point about this guy. He's the WBA fighter of the decade, or something, 46-0, and hardly gets any exposure in the USA.
Boxrec>everything Boxrec number 1 Boxrec should replace watching actual fights. :deal ...this trolling is less fun than I thought it would be. Maybe....more emoticons?:think :hey:happy:rasta :hammertime:bananamaniac:freddyarty
Both of his fights against Rocky Juarez were on HBO. :/ To be fair, his profile has faded significantly since the Juarez brace, and like someone posted earlier, he supposedly has managerial and promotional issues. I doubt he'll ever gain a significant foothold in the West again, but he's a solid fighter that was competitive with Marquez, regardless of who really won. Although, most would probably argue that Marquez deserved the nod. His fight against Shoji Kimura could be interesting. Japanese fighters have been on a hot streak recently, and John is 32 years old with 48 fights under his belt. An upset could very well be possible, although I don't think I've ever seen Kimura fight before.
Good boxer from the Islands of Indonesia. But does not have the power nor is he slick enough to be a household name. Austronesian pride though. Keep reppin! But if he only had pop to drop foos he would be thunderous, no doubt.People would talk highly of Johns! [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DbGTYx014ww[/ame]
Chris won the fight with Marquez as I saw it - but I heard that Marquez was screwed around in Indo and was sleep deprived and just exhausted by the time he finally arrived to fight
The issue with Chris John is money, he gets paid ALOT and I mean ALOT to fight no names in in his home country where he is received as a national hero. What financial benefit does he have to fight here in the States?? -Before Salido spanked JuanMa's panocha twice, Juanma would not fight John, neither would Gamboa, and neither would Caballero (pre-Litzau) when he was calling out JuanMa. That being said he probably has a couple of more fights and will retire super star of Indonesia.... John Fought Juarez here in the states, twice, the Night that Maidana beat Ortiz, Maidana-Ortiz were supposed to be undercard as Juarez and John were to be main event. The fight was cancelled and Ortiz-Maidana got main event status. I think because of John's low knockout ratio, and style of fighting their fear is of a home cooking robbery...here in the states, and most guys in his division don't offer him the coin he makes over there to come all the way over here. Low Reward High Risk Besides the WBA created an answer to this by making the "The Regular WBA Strap" now caballero has it too.
Damn good post. From what I have seen, John is a good fighter, but not one who would become a huge star in the states. One could compare him to Joe Cal with a more pleasing style.
I'm a fan of his, the contact information for his manager on Craig Christian is correct, (on Boxrec) and he is very fan-friendly and more than willing to talk openly and honestly with fans. Just be respectful.... I sent an email thinking it was just gonna be a waste of time, and received a very cordial response, his team are very down to earth folks....
John is a good fighter, mayber even slightly underrated. I doubt he will retire undefeated though and will likely be remembered as one of the many titleholders that get little mention when talking about past fighters.
John is a good fighter and deserved the win against Marquez, but he almost never fights away from home and just a seldom fights quality opposition. Not much else to say, he has never felt the need to prove himself.
