Gamboa, because John isn't a big puncher, and I think he's been on the slide (though he'd still be a great win, of course). Gamboa isn't nearly as proven, but for the reasons I listed, I favor him. If you're getting a bit past it, and you go up against a super-fast power puncher, it's a bad combo.
he is.... look at the list of fighter's he's fought - the only marquee names he's defeated are JM Marquez, Rocky Juarez, and Jose Rojas. These are NOT punchers. His matchmaker's done a great job keeping him safe from mismatching his style. vs Jose Rojas - UD Gamboa vs Rojas - TKO 10, Yuriorkis held off most of his aggression and paced himself in small bursts. Even after a heavy clean shot he stepped off and let Rojas recover. This fight was to prove Gamboa isnt a frontrunner and have the ability to still be very dangerous in the late rounds. Who is Chris John lined up next to fight? 7/26/2010 - Fernando David Saucedo (38W, 1KO, 4L) rated #26 in BoxRec COME ON!!!! if this isnt a safe fight, i dont know what is! he WONT go against a PUNCHER and risk losing his record. He's put in 12years of boxing in and prob look to retire after this fight....
Man, i personally would like to see Gamboa win but CJ is a tough fighter and he can box and has a decent defensive skills. I've under estimated CJ many times before...this could go either way.
If I had a nickel for every time I heard somebody hyping up Chris John I would have about negative 400 dollars.
