this is not boxrec's fault but the judges' at jmm/john.

 

Chris John is just a overrated tomato can,i mean who did he face besides Marquez and getting a home town win that tells you somthing right there,he's not ready to fight pac.

I wouldn't take Amsterdam's word quite so authoritatively here. Amsterdam and a few others on this board call it a robbery, most major publications said it was a close fight and a fair decision. He also had Ottke losing 7 times or something ridiculous like that. I had JMM close, but I could see where John would be a fair decision. Also, John's a defensive fighter, so it's tough to tell what landed well when you're not watching the fight on TV-quality video. JMM has the higher workrate and harder punches, but John is a precision fighter and makes the other guy miss a lot, so it's a hard style matchup to judge.

Who else did John face? Derrick Gainer, Tommy Browne, Jose Rojas twice. Not a murderer's row, but not a string of tomato cans either. All three were top 5 or so in the weight class when he fought them.

I'm not sure why Pac would want to make a John fight. There are enough other good fighters he could secure his legacy with, and John brings a small purse and is very dangerous. Also, John just isn't a particularly exciting fighter. Style-wise, he's like a miniature Chris Byrd, so I'm not sure many people would even want to see the fight.

I mean he has not seen any John's fights and yet, he thinks John will have a good chance as anyone to beat PAc just becasue John defeated JMM before.:huh

But then, what can we expect from someone who has not seen the JMM-John fight and yet has the great audacity to match John against Pac just becasue of the fact that John won over JMM?

And that win was questionable, btw. Some even claimed it was a robbery.:hey

 

I never seen Chris John fight. I here he's pretty good though.
