i'm really curious how john would respond to figthing under the bright lights. some asian fighters shine and some buckle when fighting in the big league. i'd say since in jin chi vacated his title to linares. start banging the freaking drums for a john-linares unification and the best part is it could happen as linares fights out of japan. the winner should move up to 130 for better fights and bigger paydays fighting guys like soto and guzman first before taking on either jmm or pac
Thats true. He should be forcing the issue more in America, nothing wrong with fighting in Asia, especially in Japan where the coin is good. But its obvious the big fights from 122-130 are in the U.S at the moment.
i had it 10 rds to 2 for JMM John only really had 1 convincing round John did nothing but throw weak jabs to counter Marquez's combinations oh well cant feel sorry for him, he chose to fight in a parking lot for peanuts than rematch with the ring champion.
Though it probably had a lot to do with him. That dickhead manager of his didnt help to situation, thats the guy who is getting paid to give you sound career advice, especially on financial situations. Its only JMM's talent that has allowed him to salvage his career.
BTW i just read that John's people will make an offer to JMM for a rematch in December but it will have to be at 126. I sincerely doubt JMM will take it, but there is hope for those who want to see a rematch.
jmm won't take that. he has a major money fight with pac lined up. absolutely no sense in either pac or jmm fighting anyone else other than each other.
If you indeed read that Boom_Boom, I'm certain it's one of those bullcrap offers that are just for show. The John team know very well that JMM has bigger fish to fry at 130 lbs, and that there is no need to move down to 126 lbs for JMM to prove he can easily disect John once again. In other words, there's no need for a John rematch for the sake of correcting a corrupted hometown decision. Especially vs the likes of John who has'nt fought anyone close to the caliber of JMM for people to take notice. On second thought, since Bob Arum will most likely stall the Pac-JMM fight till late 2008 or even early 2009, maybe JMM can use John (if John is willing to fight at 130 lbs) as a tuneup. I propose GBP make John a 35k offer to fight JMM in Mexico!
C'mon domngo, a post like that magnifies the obvious fact that you are bitter for the schooling that Pac had to go through at the hands of JMM.......that you feel that need to diminish JMM by linking him to something unrelated to boxing! Get with the program friend and post boxing!:bbb :deal
:happy Thank you Boom_Boom. When the JMM-John fight was first circulating the internet, I was bomabarded by a few here for my one sided scoring of the fight. It's refreshing for me to see that a Pac fan is honest to post the truth!:good
Chris John seemed to frustrate JMM at every turn, but he would not launch his own offense, probably confident that he would win by just staying upright.
By Ronnie Nathanielsz Obviously looking to make a name for himself WBA featherweight champion Chris “The Dragon” John says he wants “to fight the winner of the October 6 Manny Pacquiao-Marco Antonio Barrera rematch.” Egged on by former all-time great Jeff Fenech and trainer Craig Christian John went to the extent of saying that “maybe Barrera can win. I think he can come back, but a fight with Manny Pacquiao will be a great fight as well when I move up to junior lightweight.” The Indonesian champion who is undefeated with a record of 40-0-1 with 21 knockouts was quoted by the Australian website *********.com which also reported that John, with the backing of Fenech, was “about to embark on a training program to beef him up to 130 pounds for an assault on Filipino idol Manny Pacquiao.” Fenech sought to sell the idea of a Pacquiao-John fight by saying that the Indonesian is “a brilliant fighter” and although Fenech claimed he was a big Pacquiao fan he said Pacquiao “has a wild style and I see some weaknesses there in his defense. Chris is pretty much the perfect package in terms of balance, jab and defensive skills.” Trainer Christian said he wants John to have a warm-up fight at 130 pounds before he fights any of the big names, adding that Pacquiao was the ultimate target. Christian was quoted as telling well-known and respected boxing writer Paul Upham they will have John on a training program which will “put him right up there with Pacquiao in power and strength.” John remained unbeaten when he forced Japanese challenger Zaiki Takemoto (21-7-1, 12 KO’s) to retire after round nine. John had earlier dropped the Takemoto in the sixth and eighth rounds
He can want whatever he wants to, but if he wants a big name, he needs to fight a mid-sized name somewhere in the west first. Unfortunately, like most Asian fighters, he doesn't seem to question his promoter much, and I doubt that step will get taken unless GBP (his US co-promoter) really asserts themselves, which they don't have a major reason to do until Barerra runs out of gas.
Have u seen the John vs JMM fight??? JMM took that, those Judges were crooked. JOhn is a really good boxer though.
Well his team is talking of taking a tune up at 130 first . . . maybe he can line himself up to take a shot of the winner of the Guzman/Soto fight or if not challenge Valero in Japan. The latter is the one most likely to happen.:yep
