I was browsing JMM achievements and victories and came across his loss against Chris John. I have heard of Chris however i haven't had the privilege of watching any of his fights. (Blame the poor boxing coverage in Australia). Would any of you mind telling me about about this fighter and where you rank him P4P? Thanks
He is underated by most but doesn't crack my top 20 P4P, the scores were a total joke in that fight though with JMM.
I thought he beat JMM fair and square. He probably has the best guard in boxing. Very quick at bringing it up and sees punches coming well. A tall fighter with a good sense distance and a very good defence. He's the kind of fighter where alot of punches land on his guard, but barely any land flush. Not powerful, above average speed but nothing famous, and fundamentally sound with a good jab and some solid skills. Can counterpunch quite well but i don't think its his game. I've seen only 2 fights so I'm not the best judge maybe
I have seen him a couple of times and he has talent thats for sure, look he make around $100 000 for his defences in indo and Japan, the guy can fight
What did you think of the point deductions? I thought there was no way that JMM would get the decision no matter what happend tbh, they were just going to keep taking points to assure their man got the win.
Well Marquez was warned twice before the deductions, and Chris John wasn't given any time to recover after the low blows, so imo pretty fair ref. I don't remember if the low blows were clear or not Anyways regardless of whether the decision was fair in that fight, Chris John is a pretty good boxer
