There are more than two people in THIS THREAD who scored the fight for John, myself included. The scoring was a bit wider than it should have been, but with the deductions it was a close but clear win that a few JMM fanboys whine about. The ref was flown in from Panama, so it's not like there was a hometown ref taking the deductions, although there are some refs who would have let them slide (I think of it more like the deduction in Marquez/Vasquez 3, where the guy was warned like 10 times, and even though the infractions where the points were deducted weren't bad, you have to do something eventually). Also, the judges were American, Japanese and Thai, respectively.

As for not doing anything since then, other than the Marquez fight (which was a mandatory) John has made a living fighting dangerous fighters with little to no name recognition. He's generally fought mandatories long before they have become due. He's also had very bad luck with scheduling. He had a fight scheduled with In Jin Chi, but the fight got cancelled when Chi retired. There were also a couple of other fights he had scheduled out of the country (I remember they were going to put him on the Peter-Maskaev undercard at one point), but he's run into various problems. I'm not saying he's trying as hard as he could to get out there and fight the best, but he's not pulling a Zsolt Erdei and just fighting cupcakes on home soil.

It would be nice to see Chris John outside of the asia pacific region on a regular basis. Boxing is a world sport and places like Indonesia, Japan and Thailand have a lot of quality boxers that should make the jump here like Pac and his later filipino brethren have done (or are still trying to do).

I had JMM a winner by a single point after twelve rounds, so those calling the fight a robbery are off their rocker. With that said though John is very uninpressive as a fighter and doesn`t bring a whole lot to the table in terms of boxing technique and ability. He is tall for the weight and uses that attribute along with his quick legs to stay out of harm`s way, but his power is negligible and his footwork leaves a lot to be desired. He won`t hold onto that belt for long unless he is kept sheltered and protected in Indonesia which is a very likely possibility.
