Chris John Cancels July 26 Match 14th July 2010 from the Jakarta Globe. Chris Johns bout against Argentinas Fernando Saucedo has been called off, again. The fight between Chris, the World Boxing Association featherweight super champion, and the unrated Saucedo, which had been scheduled to take place at the Ritz-Carlton Golden Ballroom, Pacific Place, Jakarta, on July 26, has been cancelled after Chriss handlers said the Indonesian boxer suffered a rib injury. I know its unexpected, but we just found out this morning that Chris has a broken rib. He sustained the injury during a sparring session with Roy Tuamanihuruk at Demokrat Boxing Camp [on Tuesday], assistant manager Tony Priatna said on Wednesday. We have notified all parties concerned, including the WBA and Saucedos camp. I dont know if the bout will be rescheduled. We will announce such details in the near future. While Chriss side has maintained that the world champion is injured, there were reports that the boxer met with Jakarta Governor Fauzi Bowo at the city hall on Wednesday afternoon. When asked to comment on the report, Tony said he was not aware of the meeting. I dont know anything about it because I was not with him at the time. He has struggled the last few days, and he has difficulty breathing, Tony said. It was the second time in the last three months that Chris had to cancel a world title fight. The bout was first scheduled on May 22 at Discovery Mall in Kuta, Bali. However, Chris backed off from the fight after he hurt his left arm on April 28 while sparring with Australian William Kicket at Mirah Boxing Camp in Bali. The 30-year-old boxer, his management team and Zaenal Thayeb, his promoter at the time, then agreed to move the bout from Bali to Jakarta. A July date was chosen because RCTI, which held the rights to broadcast the fight, wanted the match to be staged after the World Cup. In July 2008, Chriss fight with Jackson Akisu of Australia was also canceled after both boxers failed to show up for the weigh-in. Neither camps offered an explanation for the no-show, although an official medical report showed that Chris weighed 61.5 kilograms at the time of the weigh-in, more than four kilograms over the featherweight limit. In July 2009, just four days before Chriss rematch with Rocky Juarez in Los Angeles, the Indonesian fighter collapsed during a sparring session, an incident that forced organizers to cancel the bout. But speculation arose that the fight was canceled after Chriss handlers failed to meet a ticket quota required by Golden Boy Promotions. Chriss side has denied such speculation.
He shouldnt waste his time with this scrub anyway. Anyone there when this Argie fought Skinny a few years back? ****ing awful fighter to watch. Hope he recovers and can cash out with a big one in the states later this year.
