Eastsideboxing.com is reporting today that Chris John will be making his next defense of his WBA Super World featherweight title in Australia on 6 December, vs the IBO featherweight champion, Simpiwe Vetyeka. Vetyeka, from South Africa, is BoxRec's #12 ranked featherweight. He won his title on 14 April 2013, when he stopped Chris John's countryman, Daud Yordan, in the 12th round of their title fight in Indonesia, on the undercard of John's most recent fight, vs Satoshi Hosono. This will be the first time Chris John has ever fought a world title unification fight.
the brave chris john....finally fighting someone with a title and its an IBO FFS the guy just recently lost an 8 round fight to a 14-9 fighter. congrats for "stepping up"
A decade ago Chris John completely dominated the dirty south finest Featherweight & you feel he didn't step up yet lol Chris John soon 49-0 breaking Pedroza 18 title defense record Chris John already whipped the WBC n IBF champions earlier in his career Some frustrated folks from Chris John generation turned into bitter jealous posters on forums, he is still undefeated and an ATG against the will of his enemies
In fairness, he hasn't done much since. His record is nice, but his list of opponents isn't impressive.
i know you are trolling. but John is the biggest ducker ever. over 50 fights and has 1 notable win, JMM 12 years ago. WHOOOOPIE
John continues to fight the best from every country while JMM keeps his head up Pacquiao's ass by fighting all Pacquiao and Pacquiao-related names, all the time. John moved on in his career, JMM did not. I think we know who goes down in the history of the sport as the better man....
my official new nickname for chris john so remember when it catches on, give me the credit Chris Yawn
lets pack the arena and do a great round by round for the great Chris YAWN, defending his belt against another ho hum who less than a year ago lost a scheduled 8 round fight to a 14-9 fighter. Chris Yawn lost his balls about 10 years ago for some reason
Who is his promoter? Chris John looking to surpass calzaghe, in fact his single best win is better than anything on calzaghe a record.
