Chris Mannix: HBO may be interested in Klitschko-Jennings

15 fights , Never beaten anybody and has only one 12 round fight to his name? Wlad is an embarrassment to the sport if he takes this fight.

NBC turned down a list of fighters who were more seasoned than Jennings for Fury. There cant be any truth to this.

 

so this is what boxing is about? the contenders should be happy to get chosen out of all the top guys to get a chance to fight for a world title, not complain that too little money is offered, if they want better money and not strain themselves too much, they should of gone after a better line of work

 

Charr and Wach? They would win against every other american HW! But then Jennings would be ok? Jennings just has not enough power for a Heavyweight. In this division power is way more important than in other divisions! For example if Cunningham would have more power, his win against adamek would have been way more obvious! But he was not abel to really impress Adamek with power and he could not hurt Adamek!
There is really nothing exciting right now in the Heavyweight division in the USA. So every fight with an american Heavyweight would result in an easy win for both Klitschkos. They need to take another good european Heavyweight or maybe one from Cuba!

 

Rather see the fight with Jennings than a fight against Pianeta.

 

Jennings would be a good fight for Wlad including HBO.

 

This is in line with what I have heard. May 4th, and Jennings is the first choice, with Pianeta 2nd.

Pianeta was first choice because Jennings said no at first. However, Jennings then came back with yes which pushed Pianeta to 2nd.
So it seems to be very clear that Wladimir would rather fight Jennings, and that's a good move because Jennings is better than Pianeta, imo,
and better for the US audience too.

 

Its a professional sport, boxers risk their health to get paid & should get paid fairly for their efforts during their short careers.

No other promoters in boxing offer deals to voluntary challengers like K2 do. No other division has a monopoly like heavyweight currently does & its not a healthy situation for the sport.

Too many Klitschko fans complain about contenders ducking the brothers & ignore K2's track record of being incredibly difficult & demanding in negotiations.

 

And what is a fair reward for a Boxer like Jennings who is not known at all (except real Boxing Fans know him). The Event will sell out just because of the name Klitschko!
And you have many other professions where you have big risks for your health but these people get paid much less.
The Klitschkos have an absolut monopol in Heavyweight boxing so it normal that they are "incredibly difficult & demanding in negotiations". I wonder.... how did a Lewis contract look like for a Voluntary fight?

 

I like it better than the Pinata fight.

From Jennings' perspective, he'll get a chance at the Heavyweight title, a career high payday, and some valuable experience. He'd be a fool to turn that down considering there's no guarantee he'll get that kind of opportunity again.

 

Who else should Wlad fight??

Sure it may be 'too soon' for Jennings, but why not go for it. His confidence is there, he's undefeated, young.

Everyone is a underdog vs the K-brothers, and if you do end up getting your first loss, might as well be going for the championship vs the best.

 

So what? Jennings is willing to take his shot unlike Fury, Price, Wilder and those other protected jokes. When you are offered a shot you take it. Period. Look at some of the guys Holmes fought that were 12-0, 15-0 etc.

Sad what this sport had become with guys not willing to take a title shot.

If you lose so what? Learn from the fight train and come back another day.

Props to Jennings the guy is willing to fight unlike all the others.

 

The experience Jennings will get while losing to Wlad can't be otherwise obtained by beating even a 1000 bums in a row. If he goes the distance and manages to claim a few rounds his stock will rise sharply.

 

If Jennings just lasts beyond 6 rounds it will already be a moral victory for him. If he loses in 12 he'd instantly be an attractive gatekeeper opponent for the likes of Mitchell etc.

 

So what would HBO do?

Put in on tape delay to open up the Floyd/Canelo PPV?

Jennings would destroy Mitchell. Losing to Wlad wouldn't make him a 'gatekeeper'
