Chris Mannix: HBO may be interested in Klitschko-Jennings

I agree that Jennings gets a ton of credit for taking this fight if it happens. I also think a loss doesn't ruin him and makes him a better fighter for going rounds with the champ.

The reason why I'd like to see this fight happen in a year or two is because now I think Wlad is a big favorite but give Jennings a few more fights while Wlad gets closer to 40 then its starts to get interesting.

Wlad probably has anywhere from 5-8 fights left before he's 40 and on the way out. There's a lot of young fighters going to be in line for shots-Price, Boystov, Fury,Helenius, Glakov, Solis, etc. There's guys already in line like Povetkin and Pulev. Then you get a mandatory or two who isn't one of these guys and throw in a possible Haye rematch and Jennings getting a rematch when he's ready is a longshot.

I like Jennings, I think he puts up a better fight than Pianeta, but I don't want to see him beaten and eliminated while he's still just a prospect.

 

I hope Jennings takes the fight. He'd be the most athletic guy out there for Wlad to fight. He's not gonna put in a lackluster effort like a lot of other guys have done.

 

He'd definitely try harder than Haye. But the thing is, once they feel that jab, their facial expression changes and they think..'I gotta walk through that'. Those that have, have found success, but, you have to do it and most just try and survive.

 

I dont think that Klitschko wants to fight in the USA... when was his last fight there?

Many guys would destroy Mitchell, but that doesn't change the fact that Mitchell is the guy with GBP and HBO behind him, not Jennings. If Jennings has a solid showing againt Wlad, even if he loses, his stock with HBO may well rise.

 

Wach took a huge beating and no sane person would have complained if the ref had stopped the fight in that 10-8 round.

Fight Povetkin. Or Arreola-Stiverne. Or your brother whom you've mutually agreed to duck for your entire career.

 

CHEF i'm curious if Volodymyr is aware and motivated to try and significantly enhance his legacy by getting wins against the emerging crop of HW's in the next couple years since some of them will inevitably become belt holders post K2?

 

He's gonna fight Povetkin after whoever he fights next unless Povetkin bitches out a third time.

He's going to fight whoever eventually gets the WBC title whenever Vitali retires.

He's going to fight Pulev or whoever beats Pulev for the IBF mandatory.

So if he fights another "bum" in April or May it isn't really a big deal.

 

Doesn't Wlad have to have a fight signed with Povetkin no later than July 31 to even have a voluntary before that?

if jennings clips him you never know.... but duva put biggs way too soon with tyson(15 pro fights) and it ruined biggs career....same thing here wit bryant.....but bryant gets off the deck to win wlad doesnt....age factor....desire...perhaps doesnt have the desire at 37 to keep training(look at lennox lewis at age 37 came in at 256 against vitali)...perhaps it will happen to wlad....

 

povetkin biggest bum champ in history....pierre coetzer in his prime woulda knocked povetkin out...his champ ranking is an embarresment to the WBA:-(
