He was smugly humble in his post fight comments. I liked everything he said, except the part about manny being the best at fighting like manny. I guess it's better than saying 'he was the better man tonight'. As in more honest, and I guess you can't expect him to say yeah... I got my ass kicked. The kids got confidence and a rare smugness even in defeat.

 

I'm not into the Pac vs May mess going on in this thread or forum. I will comment on the quote though. It was so ridiculous and stupid, and just a juvenile way to not give a man his full due credit.

Algieri should have just admitted he got beat by the better man. Algieri is not as technically savvy as he thought he was and Pac is a world class operator. It's not text book technique, but the only 2 fighters who have really dealt with him at a high level were Morales and JMM, both much better than Algieri and who have also been given fits by Pac.

Algieri would have come off as much more classy admitting defeat and saying he will learn from this and come back better prepared next time. He needs real trainers as well. His footwork and stance looked ****ty, he had little to poor combo selection and nearly no timing capability. He also needed a wider jab selection. His double jab was easily stuffed and blocked most of the time. Although Pac had the worse strategy and can't cut off the ring for sh*t he had superior footwork, better timing, angles, and punch placement.

Just watching Timbo and Virgil Hunter break down the two fighters prior to the fight, it was obvious to me that Algieri had no chance. I had some buddies who thought he was going to win because he was going to box, but he is a B level on the back foot. He wasn't going to be able to master the footwork or angles to win the fight and that once he put on his earmuffs it was going to be over for him.

 

Poor Chris was cherry picked.

 

Instead of giving Marquez the lions share he's fighting a guy that was exposed in his last fight.
