I was just about to post this too. Rather unusual to have a rematch immediately after a title loss, without a tune-up fight.

That being said, i still think Silva's a favourite to win the re-match. He lost a lot of fans, and Wiedman earned a whole new respect. But it was a critical error to a lesser opponent.

First fight was fixed, so not surprising they'd have a rematch.
1.6 million PPV's will be sold.
    Good job Dana.

Easy fight to pick. Weidman is just a better fighter. I told everyone that 3 years ago and you all laughed.

If the price is right you have to bet Weidman especially if he's getting close to plus 200..should be a very competitive fight.

Well, he'll always be a better fighter than Silva thinks he is, at any rate. Sometimes, that's enough.

Weidman does have more ways to win, I think. He can land something big while standing; or he can take the fight to the ground and grind out a decision. That scenario is more likely to occur this time around, I think.

Anderson will win this in dominant fashion.

How many strikes to Weidman land before Anderson starting dicking around. The disparity in skill levels here is a complete joke. Anderson was treating Weidman like a child and then took it too far.

As shocking as the end to last week's fight was don't forget what preceded it.

    Very true.

This I don't agree with. Weidman's stand up looked terrible, he has some serious work to do between now and December. As things stand a serious Anderson would blast him away on the feet and Anderson was starting to look very comfortable stuffing those takedown attemps.

Disagree. Weidman was still connecting on Silva from time to time, even in the first, and was doing a pretty good job of avoiding Spider's strikes (save for the leg kicks). He won the first round clearly; and not just because Silva spent a large part of it in showboat mode.

I had never heard of Weidman before last week, literally never seen the name before. (of course I've barely followed MMA whatsoever for 2-3 years now, and the UFC in particular almost nil)

How big an upset was this?

...and, for those who saw the entire match (I've only seen the KO GIF) how much of it was Silva basically defeating himself with his silliness after years of luck being on his side?

If the answer to question #1 was "Big upset, nobody gave Weidman much chance; he was as obscure, unaccomplished and unready for such a step up as your being oblivious to him suggests" and the answer to question #2 was "quite a bit to do with Silva's clowning finally biting him in the ass, more so than anything Weidman did" then I would suspect revenge in no less than dominant form is very doable for A Aranha - and necessary if he wants to regain his stature.

A lot of UFC fighters were picking Weidman to win, and quite a few people on the forum. I only saw his fight with Munoz, which was knockout by an awesome looking elbow but had no idea how legit he was. Most people were saying Weidman was the best that Silva has fought in his career (at least being a complete fighter) and it seemed like that was true.
