What a chin on Gastelum didn't even blink from those shots.

That was a very good return to form from Weidman... A very complete and masterclass performance apart from the flash knockdown. Happy for a great fighter to prove me wrong like this...

Credit to Weidman he looked better than I expected. Gastelum should have been a little more aggressive and active in defending the shots and on the feet, he was too confident in a late stoppage.

I was a good performance but I felt Gastelum was too lackadaisical in there.

Middleweight just got very interesting again... Granted, Whittaker probably has the perfect style to beat Weidman. But apart from him and Romero, is there anyone you wouldn't favor Weidman to beat currently? Even Romero... It was 1-1 before Weidman got caught with that flying knee.

I wouldn't exactly call it a masterclass, good workmanlike victory

That's just him I think... He looked like that against Magny...

Dude. He dominated Gastelum in all areas of MMA apart from that brief moment at the end of the 1st. Outstruck, out wrestled, out submission grappled. How he dominated and controlled Gastelum on the mat was very impressive. That was definitely a masterclass. Even more impressive considering Weidman had his back to the wall.

I'd still pick Whittaker and Romero to KO him. He'd have to work so much harder to get them down and as we saw at the end on r1 that Widman's once granite chin is now highly suspect.

It was a good win no doubt but I still see a lot of weaknesses in Weidman, he got away with things against against Gastelum that he wouldn't vs others. Gastelum was clearly playing the long game and giving up those early rounds to stop him late.

Weidman vs Jacare would be a good fight.

Yeah that's probably a plausible fight to make next, while Whittaker and Bisping take care of business. Which might not be until early next year.

Maybe I'm being a bit too harsh on Weidman, just felt Gastelum let that one go away.
