Though Arreola's tough and would make it entertaining a couple rounds? AP has better skill, good volume, and will take Arreola out in the 7-10 area.

 

At this point in their careers, Povetkin on points. If Arreola improves his defense, he has a shot. I imagine he'd keep things close for about 6 rounds or so based on workrate, and at the end of the fight, Povetkin would look like the guy who took the beating, but I have questions about Arreola's stamina, and once his workrate slows, he's too easy to hit if he's not throwing 2 punches for every 1 punch his opponent throws. If he can improve his stamina significantly, however, and if his chin can hold up to it (still a question mark at this point), I still think he can be a gigantic version of Juan Diaz.

I realize you're not an Arreola fan (and I can see where, if you don't think he'll continue to improve, one would think he'll never be a true contender), but this is ridiculous. Now you're just making **** up and hoping people believe you.

Personally, I think he's shown enough improvement over the past few years that he can become a fixture. He's raw enough that if he keeps showing the same rate of progress, he shopuld be pretty good in a couple of years. I doubt he'll be a beltholder, and he is limited against good boxers, but I can see him being on around the same level as the guys occupying the 6 - 10 spots in the top 10 right now. If he can improve his stamina so he can hold his workrate for 10 - 12 rounds, and if he can improve his defense so he doesn't constantly block punches with his face, he should be able to hold his own. While he isn't quick, he's a tough fighter to defend against because he throws a lot of punches from a lot of angles.

Questionable chin? Based on what? While Chmabers is not a hard hitter he hit Povetkin with few flush shots, and Povetkin kept on coming forward.

Peter has not Ko'd even a top 50 yet, and you are mumbling about him Koing Povetkin. I doubt Peter with his telegraphed punches will be able to even land clean on Povetkin unless it is on the back of the head (Peter's specialty). While Povetkin's chin remains to be quite uknown, we all know what happen to Peter's after Klitschko gave him a pounding and a boxing lesson. On the same note, Povetkin in terms of skills is in another league than Peter.

 

I agree that Povetkin is a better fighter in most parts than Peter. BUT his chin is still fairly untested and IF Peter catches him with flush shots like Chambers did, Povetkin would need a huge chin to stand up. Samuel Peter is not skilled, but he can PUNCH.

 

Yes, Peter can punch but is not a counter puncher with the speed of Chambers by any means. The one that would be doing the counter-punching in such a hypothetical fight would be Povetkin, and with his speed that is 10 times better and combinations he would take Peter apart. What is Peter suspect to ? Hooks. What is the best Povetkin punch?....

 

I rarely saw Povetkin doing any counterpunching, but yeah maybe he would. I never actually saw Povetkin defend himself. How he'd act against someone who'll be the agressor, i can't tell. I just think that Peter would catch Povetkin and unless Povetkins chin really is as hyped, that could be very painful..

If McCline with a Ko ratio of 0.6 had Peter on a quer street, Povetkin with a 0.73 ratio and being a superior boxer can probably do much better.

 

I am not trying to deny that Peter has a punchers chance, of course he is. However, Povetkin is superior to Peter in most aspects.
