Christ... Tommy Hearns' speech is horrid....

    Fellas,

    I just finished up my '54 classic film that starred Bogie in "The Caine Mutiny." An awesome Navy film in color with a great supporting cast... I love this movie.....

    I also happen to have a middle 90s Tuesday night USA network fight featuring Tommy Hearns against Earl Butler on the same video...... Hearns went on to win this fight over 10 rds, but during the pre-fight interview, Hearns' speech is totally garbled and slurred..... Hearns was age 37 yrs at the time.... He fought Butler as a Cruiser in the 180s, and Hearns looked physically fit at the weight, but his mentality seemed to be wandering a bit...... Cheerio........

    I saw him on Ringside with SRL. Definitely some damage done. Shame, SRL seems to have come out perfectly fine, though. Always sad to see this stuff. Holyfield seems to be getting on the brink too.

    Hearns sounds terrible against Butler in '95 at age 37, but his skills still looked good against the rugged Butler........... Hearns has landed some bombs and he dumped Butler, but Butler is tuff and got up to press on....... Hearns boxing well....... I'm in round 5 of my tape review..... The fight is in Michigan.......... Al Albert and Sean O'Grady calling the action....

    Off topic......... But I just found my '84 comeback fight of Cooney fighting Phil Brown in Alaska....... Not a real fight.... Brown fought like a timid *****..... Cooney TKO 4 Brown.......

    i def think his speach is slurring but in an interview pretty recently with his son he sounded pretty concise and clear...slured a fair bit of course but seemed to of stayed at a level.

    aaron pryor is pretty similar and terry norris pretty recently. you can see and hear the decay during there careers but pretty recently they seem to be doing pretty well.

    Meldrick Taylor's speech is by far the worst......... I just saw were Taylor was interviewed on HBO in the early 21st century and he was still considered an active fighter, but his speech was so bad it freaked me........ Taylor will be a space-case by age 50........

    Yes, I've heard Hearns on ESPN Classic this year and it's very obvious though not nearly as bad as I've heard it. He seems healthy otherwise and what he does say at least sounds like his thinking is clear, even if his speech is garbled. I wonder what his sons think about their own careers when they listen to that...

    He boxed / fought Earl Butler in 1995 up in Michigan and he looked physically fit and slick with decent power at 180+ pounds....... But his pre-fight interview was bad..... Hearns stopped, thought, slurred all this garbled lingo and it was not good...... Kinda' scary....... Peace....

    I thought Pernell Whitaker sounded borderline punchy when Ive seen him on Ringside, ESPN. It's hard to defend the sport sometimes when you see this stuff....

    Its weird, a defensive wizard like Whitaker is punchy as **** in his early 40's, and George Foreman is fine in his 60's.

    Hate to say it but, Pernell Whitaker is just plain stupid / dumb to begin with..... He came from a crappy section of Virginia and I DOUBT his education was good to begin with...... If anything, P.W. is just "Hood / Street" smart...... I heard him do an interview YEARS AGO and I thought he talked with that twangy street lingo that sounds rough, slurred and Jive-Turkish....... Its not good........ He talks street talk.......

    I don't see what's immoral about consenting adults getting into the ring and consenting adults watching them do it.

    I hate to say it but this is true to me aswell. A lot of peoples articulation break up as they get older, its especially clear with peoples and no formal education.

    There was a clip floating about with Pernell comparing himself to Floyd and I wasn't sure if it was punch drunk or dumb ****.

    Same can also be said about James Toney........ Toney is "Hood" wise, but I doubt if he can read or write a complete sentence without butchering the English language to death.... Verbally speaking, James Toney kills the language to the point of sadness..... But he did that early on as well...... James Toney speaks with "Attitude" as if he's owed something or the world is against him...... It stems from a rough childhood and living in the ghetto.......
