Mijares should be top 5, if its really meant to be pound-for-pound.

Mijares is almost a top10 P4P-er on my list... but I can't put him above R. Marquez (who's a top 10) and Winky (who's 11th). It's simple: Winky being an undisputed LMW champ, shuting out Tito, defeating P4P-er and undisputed MW champ Taylor on most of our cards and only losing a very close fight to Hopkins in Light Heavyweight is much better than Mijares' resume, even if Winky is inactive (that's why he can't make it into the 10). Rafael on the other hand, a future HOF, one of the best BWs, TKOing Vazquez, the #1 SBW, losing to him by TKO and losing thje 3rd fight via one singe point puts him right behind Vazquez.

You see, on my P4P list everything is about accomplishments, and even in losing you can do something big (like Hopkins still having a top10 spot despite he lost a close fight to Calzage).

Mijares is great. If he beats Montiel, the legitimate no2 in the division, probably for The Ring belt, he'll earn a top10 spot! But not yet... He, Calderon, Juan Diaz before the Campbell fight or John were all close but couldn't break in.

Ring Magazine rankings are no better or worse than anybody else's rankings.

They really are senseless. What does it all really mean?

For example, the Ring had JMM beating Manny Pacquiao, but still rate Pacquiao at #2 and JMM at #4.

....and I highly respect Ricky Hatton as a fighter, but to leave him in the top 10 and drop Raphael Marquez???

    It really makes no sense!

......but yes, props to Christian Mijares, at least it shows that he's getting respect from those that write about boxing.

Mijares deserves to be there or there about, but I can't agree with Marquez getting the boot due to a very competitive loss to Vasquez.

Hatton shouldn't be there at all.

Fair enough, I personally rank H2H ability very highly when it comes to anyone sort of list. I'd favour Mijares P4P over most others on the list, thus why i rank him highly (It's his current accomplishments that aren't as great). I think anywhere from 7-12 is a very fair ranking depending on your criteria.

I removed Winky altogether from mine due to inactivity, he's welcome to a top ten spot though as soon as he pulls his finger out of his ass!

I'd be removing Hopkins from that list and Calderon would be in there. Mijares is still just slightly out of the top ten for me with Rafa still in there. Close though.

Also, been thinking lately whether Kelly Pavlik truly deserves to be in that list? Okay best MW around and linear champion but unsure about his resume as other than Taylor, none of his opponents have faced quality opposition. For the record, Pavlik is still in my top ten but I have been doubting him of late after studying his resume a little more...

When will you remove Mayweather due to inactivity?

Fair enough! But he fought in December and will fight again in September. Winky doesnt even have a fight lined up!

Excellent. One of the most skilled fighters in boxing, top 5 in that regard.

Yes... Winky is falling out. Sad story, I like the guy but turning down Abraham, Kessler and others was a big mistake of him and now paying it's price.

On the PBF situation: yes, he'll fight in September, but only coming out of his big retirement for a fight vs. a fighther he's already defeated, so fighting one absolutely meaningless fight (for a p4p list) makes him losing his top spot to either Calzagha or Pacquiao depending how big their wins will be in their November fight (if they'll win).

hmm... if the ring had jmm beating pacquiao, then why did they award pac the ring belt immediately after the decision was read. c'mon, man... move on already. be more concerned w/ jmm taking on casa this october. that may be a fight that jmm can lose clearly unlike this very close SD loss to pac.

I take your point but I still hold Floyd above them based on resume and talent. Form for me is the third factor rather than a primary factor when deciding my P4P list (hence me still having Hatton in mine). The way I see it, Floyd has a better resume and arsenal than most on my P4P list he is undefeated off the back of a win against undisputed LWW champ. He's preparing for a rematch against someone who gave him a fairly lose fight first time round (although I dont think we'll see an Oscar of anywhere near that level this time round).

Personally, I'll give Floyd a pass on the ODH fight, provided he then goes on to set up a fight with a top welter (preferably Cotto) and then I'll keep him #1. If he fails to secure a fight with a top welter after ODH then I'd consider dropping him for Pac/Calz.

I wonder if it was a split decision to put him into the top 10 as well.

He's in my top 10, If I write it out I figure he'll come in around 8 or so. Dominating performance against Munoz.
