Finalized now for ESPN+, 7/28. WBO super featherweight title (recently vacated by Lomachenko) at stake. Díaz & Itō at the current #1 and #2 respectively in the WBO rankings. The former is the current NABO champion at 130lbs, while the latter has actually been campaigning at lightweight for his last two contests and hasn't made super feather in over a year...but remains the WBO Asia Pacific champ at the weight.
Ito has been figthing above 130 to stay busy, he was the #1 ranked fifghter until quite recently. I'll go with the former WBO AP/OPBF unified champion, been a fan for a few years. Good wins over the likes of Watanabe, Iwai, Nakamura. Tough fight though!
He is, and I'm probably biased as hell having followed Ito for so long, should really be unbeaten IMO (though I've not been able to see the Naito fight since I first saw it, ditto Tobe Vs Ishida, two of the Fuji fights I've been looking for for a while...)
It has reached the point where I want to fn strangle all enabling fellow boxing fans who subscribe to it. Like, no, screw your shortsighted convenience of catching whatever card you don't want to miss (and feel you're too "above" finding an international stream for)... unified front people, let's ****ing boycott this and make them consider it a failed experiment not financially worth their while to continue.
I wanted to strangle a few of the guys on here that gave in this past Saturday. I avoided that RBR like the plague. Its reprehensible and needs to be butchered in the womb. Not even sure how its a sensible business model, I can't imagine they're going to end up turning a profit that way, there's not nearly enough boxing fans willing to go that extra mile to make it a success. Running on cable is in all likelihood far more profitable. Its **** like this that's killed the sport as it is, and kept it in the niche territory to begin with, but fingers crossed, I doubt this'll last all that long.
I've promised to do a Horn vs. Crawford RBR and somehow, by hook or by crook I'll figure out a way and do it - but I will not subscribe for that nonsense.
Yeah, neither will I, I may have to sit that one out on principle, either that or sign up for the free trial and cancel immediately afterward.
I'd like to see more umlauts in the title of the thread. It'd just make this fight seem more hardcore. Thanks.
