how would chuck liddel do as a pro boxer? i mean if you have seen his last two fights they were pure boxing matches (except for one or two takedowns). would he be an awesome pro boxer?

Any comparable-weight pro boxer he stepped in the ring with would cave his head in and get one back for old Ray.

I'd love to see Darnell Wilson vs. Chuck Liddel :nod

He would not be able to compete with a solid pro. His strikes while good enough for MMA would not dominate in a match with a person trained to throw nothing but punches. Chuck vs boxer in MMA would probably be different. Chuck would probably shoot on the boxer.

Chuck knows how to use his hands, there's no doubt about that. But in a boxing match against any worthy opponent he'd get smoked. It would go vice-versa in an MMA match, though. Chuck doesn't have to be a great boxer to do what he does in MMA.

I think the argument is that most of his gameplan in MMA is to use his mediocre version of 'boxing'. Which makes one wonder if any decent boxer (in their prime), after learning a basic sprawl, could rack up an impressive record in certain weight classes in certain MMA promotions. :think

i don't think he would make much noise....with the bigger gloves he wouldn't get his 1 punch knock out's as much....not to mention he doesn't really use too much boxing skill when he fights....more of combination of unorthadox punching with great power combined with MMA skills. But he was a kickboxer at one time wasn't he?

His winging right hand wouldn't land on any boxer with a bit of talent.

I can hear Al Bernstein commenting on how "Mayorga's throwing the shorter and more effective punches..."

Chuck would probably get beaten handidly but he does hit hard as hell, you can't deny him that.
Land that titantic right too many times on anyone and they're going down.

Liddell would probably make it about as far as other mma fighters and kickboxers that have tried their hand at boxing such as BJ Penn and Ray Sefo. He would get about four or five wins against substandard opposition until one of the journeymen he was fighting gets mad because Liddell is trying to use him as a stepping stone and knocks Chuck the f**k out.

He wouldn't even make a decent journeyman. His punch resistance inst that great his defense is porous and his hands are too low and his always square on.He is a good counter puncher with heavy hands but in boxing he`d have to be a lot tighter.Fundamentally his too flawed to be even a fairly successful boxer.
