Well for those of you who remember my thread from last year, its that time again. The McRib is back at McDonald's and so is my liking for Chuck Wepner. There is nothing like enjoying a McRib sandwhich while watching some good Wepner footage.

You konow, I just wrote about Wepner in another thread and here is name pops up again the same day.

If you are watching old Wepner footage---you can probably chip in on this one; I wanted to see Wep in against Shavers in that 73-76 timeframe. Both guys were club fighters and If Wepner didn't get cut, I think his strength and strong physical infighting would've been a big problem late for Earnie. Thoughts?

I don't imagine that Wepner would have caused a prime Shavers too much trouble. During the period you mention Shavers was at his peak. I think Shavers's left jab would have been the commanding punch of this fight. It could have ended early by kayo because of Shavers's bombs, or it could have gone into the later rounds because of Wepner's durability. If the fight lasted long, I think Shavers would have won by TKO because of cuts.
