That's pretty doggone good footage. Considering Chuck's being adamant about Ali being the first to put him down that last time I saw him interviewed, I figured this might at least have been a questionable KD. It certainly wasn't. He caught a good bomb there, looked like it was right on the button. Apparently, he's not even just deluded, he's simply full of ****. :confAnyway, thanks for posting. :deal
I remember before the Ali -Wepner that Angelo Dundee commented on Wepner 'never having been down' and Dundee saying in the interview, "I saw Buster Mathis knock him down a few years back, but don't tell my guy that. He likes being the first at everything." I also read about the knockdown, but this is the first time I saw it and it was a beauty. No denying it. Chuck also took a count against Sonny Liston from a body shot, which also seems to have slipped through the cracks of time. Scartissue
Liston stepped on Wepner's foot, so I don't count it as much of a knockdown. Wepner later used the same trick to down Ali, which apparently some still regard as a legitimate knockdown.
