I recently read his book Street Justice. He boxed as an amatuer, and also studied martial arts. He worked as a bodyguard for many famous actors and actresses, and punched out Jean Claude Van damme in Score's back in the 90's. also is/was a Hell's Angel, and a big time fight fan. In his book he talks a lot about fighting, I mean a lot, and I get the sense, that for a guy who loves to fight he never actually did it professionally which makes me wonder if he's a wannabe and if the things in his book arent half-truths and fiction. He says his father who fought under the name Al labarba was a welterweight who used to get the better of rocky graziono in sparring, until rocky won the middlweight title, then rocky's handlers wouldnt let him in the same ring as zito's dad. He also states that his dad got a shot at welterweight champ Marty Servo, but got drafted before the fight, so he had to go in the army and couldnt fight for the title. Any thoughts?
I know Zito he is the real deal and his father was a good fighter, I never bothered to check out the facts about his dad but I know Chuck did some jail time in the FEDERAL prisons and he was a big guy with the angels, he also got friendly with some Mob guys while he was away. He did beat the dog **** out of Van Dam but does anyone really think Van Dam was for real (except Van Dam) Zito has been in quite a few bar and street altercations but is also very friendly with a lot of movie stars and fighters.
Mr. T studied martial arts and was a decent boxer, he also was over 250 Lbs. during his bodyguard days.
Zito's been around a long time and seems pretty well respected by all .. a tough street guy for sure.
The Van Damme thing was bull****. Van Damme was legless drunk and Zito STILL sucker punched him whilst JC was taking his jacket off. That's nothing to brag about. In his youth Van Damme was legit. He was at the top of his weight class in European Karate then stepped up to Kickboxing and won all his fights by KO. During this time he also successfully competed as a body builder. He retired at 22 because making movies was always his goal. If he'd had the dedication all signs point to him being a top Pro and at LEAST a contender at European level.
