Chuvalo vs Wepner

I think I am too squeamish to attend this bout live.

 

For a straight post, that's a little more blunt than I like to be and more confident, but I admit, Wepner is a pet peeve of mine. For all the flack someone like Tex Cobb got against Holmes, and the credit someone like Wepner got against the more popular Ali, look how completely superior Cobb is to Wepner, in his skill set. I mean, if you only know Ali is the GOAT and think of Holmes as the GOAT's shadow, and you know Wepner/Rocky, it'd be jarring to watch how much more of an athlete Cobb is to Wepner, actually using your eyes to look at the footage. Cobb would've dog-walked Wepner too. Wepner really bugs me. Outside the ring, a total BS'er, inside the ring, one of the ugliest moving athletes the division has ever known at the title level. It actually mystifies me that he isn't better, despite his obvious natural limitations. What the hell was he practicing all those years? Was he trained by shot put experts by accident for several years?
