I think it's a mixture of power and his relentless attack. He's not landing bombs but he's not landing pitty pat punches either so he's doing damage. Factor in that he's throwing tons of punches and probably walking through the opponents' best shots and you've got one of the most difficult fighters in boxing to beat.

Never has a guy's nickname been so appropriate...the Tijuana Tornado cuz Margarito fights like a Tornado. He just doesn't stop.

Just the way I see things but I'm certainly no expert, I just play one on these forums :yep

Where do you rank Margarito, and Berto for that matter, in the power punching pecking order?

I would have Margarito in front of Berto, commandingly. Margarito can bust you up no matter where he lands, anywhere on the body. Margarito is a very destructive, damaging puncher.

Berto on the other hand needs to land right on the button to destroy his target. Overall I feel Berto's power has diminished significantly as he's moved up in competition. And Berto hasn't even started facing elite opposition yet. I would have to say that Berto isn't a big hitter, at all. Whatsoever.

But that's just IMO, as you said.

Well I can't remember that last time Berto hasn't stopped his opponent and his competition has been slightly but progressively improving. Also when I talk about power it can be defined by how damaging the blows are. And because the most damaging punches are usually the one's that you don't see, I have to give the edge to Berto. He not only throws with great force but with tremendous speed and from an array of angles. That makes it very difficult for his opponent to see the danger coming. Margarito howver, throws alot of wide punches. He just doesn't stop throwing. Yeah Cintron didn't see the lethal body shot that brought him to his dimise but by then his spirit was already broken and that shot drained what was left of the littlebit of fight that he had left.

He might not be the biggest puncher, but he is one of the biggest punchers though.Cintron should know by now,he never made it 12 with Margarito in 2 fights
