not really. 3 KO's, 6 possible ranking combinations. the hard part is picking your number one, and then you've got it narrowed down to two. eat your wheaties and take a ginseng pill. you can do it!!

Believe me, I was as pumped as any of us after the Nwodo fight (after the initial concern for the fighter's health was allayed, of course), and thrilled for Ding having the honor of the clear (at that point only) candidate for KOOTY. But even though he's our boy, I can't objectively find it in me to rate that hook above the combo Kermit unleashed. If anything, I would flip my #2 and #3 and put Ding ahead of Nonito...I may have erred on the side of not giving our boy preferential status. Like I've said, I still gotta see the whole Donaire fight. The one punch by itself out of context though makes for one hell of a gif. As do they all. :thumbsup

ok so for those who think this poll was too confusing :)nut), here's the simplified results for actual #1 KO of the year so far, after two hours and 29 votes:

    55% say Ding
    24% say Kermit
    21% say Nonito

Donaire was suppose to lose? Maybe before the fight thats what most of us thought, but he landed more power shots than vic, aside from having it 2-2 before the perfect left hook on the fifth. But I agree with your ranking, Ding-Donaire-Cintron.

Cintron for me. It was so brutal because it was 2 monsrous shots. The first one had him KO'd on his feet and then another one just for shits and giggles.

I also think that Gomez KO of Gatti was pretty impressive too

Yeah, Gomez-Gatti was more similar to Wilson-Nwodo, which are not my favorite type of KO (the one where a guy is just worn down to the point where it's only a matter of time...not to say I don't like 'em, just prefer the explosive out-of-left-field type). Still a good dismantling and a very good finish. Maybe even in the top five of the year so far, behind the big three and that Lee-Daniels one that Rock posted.

Exactly :good. He also gets props for landing it on the biggest "name" on the KO victims' list- not to take anything away from the other fighters because none of them had ever been KO'd like they were in the fights we're mentioning. You really can't go wrong with any of them though- it's amazing that we've already got KO's of that caliber and there's still over 5 months of fights left.

And we've still got Pacquaio-Barrera II, Marquez-Barrios, Marquez-Vazquez II, Peter-Maskaev(?), Klitschko-McCline, Diamond-Singwangcha, Vargas-Mayorga, Calzaghe-Kessler, Taylor-Pavlik, Mormeck-Haye, Diaz-Morales, Chagaev-Ibragimov, and Diaz-Diaz. And who knows what kind of other surprises on FNF and the like. Plenty more opportunity for fireworks in what will go down as the Year Of The KTFOs.

Donnaire - Ding - Cintron. Donnaire's KO was the most technically sound, the most surprising, and also a thing of one punch beauty, which you really can't say about the other two. And I hate voting this way too, because Wilson - Nwodo reduced me to a primate for at least a good minute and a half.

Did ANYONE think Mathysse was actually going to stand and trade with Cintron for more than six rounds? I was busy this week and didn't get to the boards, but no one who saw him get nailed repeatedly by P-Dub could have thought he'd hold up against Cintron's power.

I still like Margarito over Cintron, but at least this time around it might actually be a fight.

all the punches involved here were delivered with textbook efficacy. i think the combo was actually the sweetest as it was landed on a dazed but still moving opponent, whereas nwodo was pretty much dead on the ropes and darchinyan was lumbering straight forward.

Im pretty sure none of you young cats remember Tokubo Olajide`s KO of Epifiano Mendoza. This was by far one of the best and most brutal KO`s i have EVER seen. The poor guy was carried out of the ring on a stretcher and i dont think he ever boxed again.Dam Shame about Olajide. He came from a famous heritage but only boxed because it was a fleeting passion..

This has really tightened up! Here again is all this year's sweetest chin music in the ESB preferred order by the current tally.
