i was taught when circling to move the right foot first when going right, but i was watching some video and it said to move your left first. does anyone else do that?
i dont' knwo what they say nemore, but i know in older days they used to say to move away from ur opponents power hand, or power shots. so if they're right handed, ur supposed to move away from their right hand
The point is to not cross your feet up. So if you are moving to your right. (considering you are right handed) then you'll want to step with your right first. And if you are moving to your left, you'll want to step with your left first to maintain your balance.
I was always taught to go forward push off your back leg ,to go back push off youre front ,and side to side just the same push off your left leg to go right and right to go left while all the time not bringing youre legs too close .this is one of the first thing new people are taught in my gym
Move right, move your right foot, drag your left. Move left, move your left foot, drag your right. Don't jump though. Use controlled motion. You have to maintain your energy. Always be at an angle. It's about balance and angles. When you move foward, move your lead foot first, followed by your rear and when going backwards, move your rear foot first, followed by your lead. Always keep an angle on an opponent, and never square up, even if you know you're the stronger guy.
yeah it sounds like a more natural way of moving but I just cant imagine getting in and out of range very quickly using that way
thats what i learned but this video said. if you wan to move right then you take your left foot and try and step on your right then quickly move you rigght foot
the way youve descibed it hes probably propelling off of the left leg taking a small step with it and then moving the right leg after.
Like with any sport, you have the basic rules and then at the higher levels of the game, you have to know when you can get away breaking the rules. Same with boxing, you watch the best footwork in the game, i'm talking PBF, Whitaker, Prince Naseem and Sugar Ray, they do at times cross their feet when evading punches especially. Not something you would teach a beginner
You put your right foot in, You put your right foot out, You put your right foot in And you shake it all about. You do the Hokey Pokey And you turn yourself around, That's what it's all about.
