Claims that Kovalev-Ward was a robbery is why Boxing gets a bad name

    It was a super close fight, one that could have gone any way, but in the end went the right way. How can anyone say this is a robbery? Honestly. A fight with close rounds throughout with the scorecards echoing this is perfectly acceptable.

    I have been seeing far too many people cry robbery from supposed high up members of the Boxing community, to forum members I thought were knowledgeable people to the general trashcan scum of the internet.

    It was a super close fight, this is undeniable. Claiming a robbery automatically proves you to be an idiot and a disgraceful supporter of the sport of Boxing. I'd advise you to get your head out of your @ss and get a grip.

    On a final note, shout out to both fighters. 2 of the 3 best fighters of today along with Roman Gonzalez agreeing to go toe to toe. Such a rarity in today's climate and shows all the bumhunters and resume padders fighting guys from weight divisions below them to complete journeyman for title fights that true talent and true greatness always will rank highest when all is said and done. It was a terrific fight and the rematch will be another terrific fight. Kovalev and Ward are a cut above the rest in terms of talent, vision and bravery. Hats off to both. A lot of title holders could learn something from these two warriors.

    It's amusing yet sadly predictable seeing people throw around "robbery" to describe that fight when it was immediately preceded by an actual stone cold robbery.

    Agreed. For one of the manliest sports on the planet boxing has a fan base populated with a bunch of whiny bitches.

    Waaagh my fighter lost by a round or 2 must be a robbery, waaagh! Grow up!

    The problem I have with this fight was that all 3 judges were American. Of course they were going to give all those close rounds to Ward, the guy won Olympic medal for his country FFS.

    The only way Ward could of won this fight was if you gave every single one of those close rounds in his favour. If there were neutral judges in this fight Ward wouldn't have won.

    Too many so called experts score ineffective pressure. Kovalev was rubbish at cutting off the ring and as the fight wore on, Ward scored and Kovalev missed more than he landed. That fat Rafael dude had Kovalev 5 up after 10. what the hell was he watching?!?

    anyone who claims robbery needs to watch the fight again. It was very close and could have went either way.

    was nowhere near a robbery.

    I'm grateful for this fight. I don't even recall watching two ATG's on a H2H level face off against eachother :lol:
    It is a Light Heavyweight Classic which will serve as a historic representative of an era with the rise of European Boxing in the world scene against America's very best fighter, and I'm honoured to have watched it.

    Just watched the fight. I don't think it was very close to be honest.

    I had Ward up by 3 rounds.

    I wanted Kovalev to win and he's one of my favourite fighters, but I essentially thought he was schooled from round 6 onwards.

    I come on to this site and I can't believe anyone thinks Kov won that fight.
