I’m starting to think that Hammer has a decent chance despite her fractured chin

Ive never seen Hammer fight. But I cant believe the hype Shields gets... when I finally saw her fight she looked absolutely mediocre.

I wont be surprised at all if Hammer pulls the upset.

With a strap-on at the after-party, yes I know, it's gonna be lit...but first Hammer is going to school & stop her.

The school and stop might take place at the after party but not in that square circle. Hammer too stiff.

“Yeah, it’s been a journey coming back,” Peter said. “I started going back to the gym around September of last year and I was weighing around 330 at that time. I needed a break from the boxing to get my head straight, I wasn’t very committed to the sport like I used to be, and because of that I lost some fights that I wasn’t supposed to, so it was good that I stepped away for a while.”

“I’m down to the 250s and my motivation is to become the heavyweight champion of the world again. This is the beginning of the new chapter.”

“I think Peter is very serious about his comeback,” Jantuah said. “I mean, for a guy to dedicate himself and train hard every day to get to where he is at right now can’t be a fluke. Samuel had only 20 fights as an amateur, and he came up fast in the professional ranks, so when you look at that it seems like he has been around for a while, but he is still young, and still has a lot left. When I started training him, he was around 320 and today he weighed in at 259, so that right there proves that the guy has dedicated himself for the comeback.”

Rooting for Hammer but expecting Shields to edge almost every round.

I just watched the Hammer ..Mathis ko. Mathis held her one arm and hit her 5 times in the side close to the back of the head with the last 2 actually on the back of the head. Unless Christina has had other issues with durability she should be ok. Granted I just saw the rd 5 ko and not the whole fight. How did she deal with Mathises power up to that point?

Yeah for all the hype she gets after winning 2 Olympic Golds to see her fight and see how sloppy she is at times is surprising. First time I watched her I was expecting a much more polished article and in flashes she does look brilliant but then she rushes in and looks kind of wild and raw.

Even if she does beat Hammer this fight for me doesn't represent or crown the best female boxer on the planet, Katie Taylor for me looks levels above both Shields and Hammer.

That's not how I saw it. Looked like to me Mathis's was the one being grabbed. Mathis had her left extended and Hammer was holding onto it, basically Hammer's clinching skills are very much below par and when she clinched she left herself open. Yes she was rabbit punched a bunch of times but it exposed a defensive flaw in Hammer, she clearly doesn't know how to clinch properly based on that fight, she was well in control for most of that fight but when Mathis got close and was rough, Hammer looked poor due to her weak clinching skills.

It's one of the reasons why I think Shields will win, she'll be too rough and wild on the inside and is quick enough to get in close, she may lose the early rounds but she'll eventually wear Hammer down and win on points in a close fight.

I'm having doubts though, Shields looked a little soft at the weigh in and was dwarfed by Hammer, wouldn't surprise me if Hammer is just too big and strong for Shields rough house tactics. Mathis is a lot bigger than Shields too and so could physically match Hammer on the inside, not sure if Shields can do it, she has the style but perhaps not the size and strength.

I just rewatched the KO again with fresh eyes. Last night I saw it when I had just got out of my second job and was exhausted. You are correct Christina was def holding the arm. In her foghts since has she shown any weakness like that agaij where she doesn't know how to deal with inside work?
