This Saturday evening in London (afternoon for us Yanks).

    Tale of the tape:

    Tyson Fury
    Age: 22
    Record: 13-0 (9)
    Height: 6' 9"
    Avg. weigh-in: 255 lbs
    BMI: 27.3 (slightly overweight)
    Nationality: UK

    Marcelo Luiz "The Hammer" Nascimento
    Age: 30
    Record: 13-0 (11)
    Height: 6' 5"
    Avg weigh-in: 230 lbs
    BMI: 27.3 (slightly overweight)
    Nationality: Brazil

That's a bit freaky that their height-weight ratio is exactly proportionate, to the second decimal place!

    Quick sketches:

    Tyson Fury
    - Youtube sensation for being stunned by a self-inflicted uppercut.
    - named for "Iron Mike" Tyson.
    - father/trainer was recently incarcerated.
    - has greatly improved over time, but still has questionable stamina...is the lesser puncher but more skilled boxer.

    Marcelo Nascimento
    - WBO Latino HW champion
    - has never fought outside South America (only once outside home state of Sao Paolo, Brazil)
    - personally donated $1000 to a mayoral campaign in his home town, before he had yet earned many boxing purses (back when he was 1-0).
    - has power in both hands but possesses an especially nice left hook, second only perhaps to David Tua among heavies outside the top ten.

This is just another stepping stone for Tyson on his way to ATG status.

Never held any real stead in BMI's. By those calculations Wlad Klitschko would be considered overweight!

    whoohoo! :bbb

Fury will be the one handing out the KO, not shure to whom though.

Tyson is good in chosing opponents that look good on paper, a few fights ago he fought then 12-0, 9KO Rich Power... The name and the record make it an instant classic but in reality...

great thread, very organized, cool. i will repeat the things i say about this fight at the british forum, maybe will be a useful information for the people who didn´t saw.
Marcelo isn´t the most respected boxer here in brazil, he is very critized because of his lack of skills, even for the brazil level he looks poor technically but this guy has a SERIOUS POWER, and is just it, a punch chance. i remember in interview after his win against basile, he says "i dont have any technique, i will try to work that, but i have the power and the will to win, i have heart, these are my main qualities", so this describe him very well.Tyson Fury doenst impressive me that much, but for sure his the favorite for this fight, marcelo´s chin never got tested, but based of his lack of defense , i can see a stoppage win for fury at the middle rounds.

    Good stuff. :good

Yeah, even with Tyson's edge in skill I can see both guys getting hit a lot and Nascimento's power at least is impressive...it could very well come down to whose chin can hold up better, which makes this more unpredictable IMO than some might think.

Fury seems to be willing to take on anybody really. He doesn't look like he'd ever back out of a challenge. Nascimento's lack of technique is startling, but if his power is real, and not Tyrone Brunson-like, what with Fury's poor defence and his seeming stamina deficiency............

    Fury KO1.

Have you seen how awful the Brazilian boxing scene is?! Now if this guy was an Argie, that would be interesting.
