Im from Bayonne and ran into Chuck Wepner at a bar a couple of years ago. He
was a real nice guy, bought everyone a round of drinks. He was pretty intimidating
with a crippling handshake haha. A guy much older than me from my neighborhood
used to box and said he knew Tyson and that Tyson used to chill at this place in North
    Bergen. Anyway any stories?

Joe Frazier, George Foreman, Floyd Patterson, Jersey Joe Walcott, Michael Moorer, Shannon Briggs, Rocky Graziano, Roberto Duran

Also, Steve Dudas, who was a heavyweight contender in the 30s and 40s, beating Bob Pastor, and fighting Schmeling and Walcott among others. Dudas was a maintenance worker in my high school and was once my bus driver in the 50s.

Took a **** in the urinal next to Vinny Paz.

We also had a mutual buddy that grew up with Paz (actually my boss at one time, but we were always on friendly terms and even went to see Joan Jett together :)) but sadly cancer severed that thread a few years back.

    Not a one

I once stood next to Jeff Fenech in a department store though. I had in my hand a copy of a boxing mag with him on the cover and thought about asking him to autograph it, then decided he just may punch me instead so I walked away

Great Arguello story. We were in a hot, crowded ballroom and he's signing autographs. There's a HUGE line in front of his chair. I see him wiping sweat off his brow. I walk over to him, lean down and say "Hey Alexis, you look like you could use a beer." He looks up, eyes wide and tell me he'd LOVE one. I got the feeling he really wanted to get away from the crowd and take a break.

I go buy us both beers. He sees me coming, walks away from the big line of autograph hounds and intercepts me. Then I got to stand there and enjoy a beer, one on one, with the great Arguello while the crowd stared daggers at me, wondering who the hell I was that I got this quality time with the champ. It was hilarious. And a great memory for me.
