Rocky, a little anecdote : When I was a young boy, My old uncle who was born in 1894 or so, would tell me and my dad,that when he was a youngster he traveled to Van Cortland Park, in the upper Bronx,NY to see
Stanley Ketchel train at Woodlawn Inn.When we asked him about
Stanley Ketchel, he'd say 'what a handsome guy he was". Looking at your
post of Stanley Ketchel sitting on a step i understand what my uncle meant..He was a good looking guy. The picture was taken in 1909 or
1910, the year he was killed...All the oldtimers who were alive and saw Ketchel raved about him...as did Nat Fleischer and Hype Igoe...
