I am mainly a reader of the classic forum and there are quite a few on here who are very well read in classic boxing literature.

There have been threads on boxing books in general - i.e. what are entertaining and enjoyable reads etc.

But, I would like to know your suggestions on the boxing classics - i.e. for a wannabe boxing historian - what books are essential reading and should be first on your reading list?

    Thanks.

Adam Pollack's series on heavyweight champions is an excellent example of academical research - primary sources, listing where this or that piece of information was taken from, giving multiple perspectives of events, etc.
