A major fight at the time, as former 'world' champion Charlie Magri and rising unbeaten prospect Duke McKenzie battled it out for the British and European flyweight titles. Magri came into the fight as the European champion, defeating the Italian Franco Cherchi for a second time away from home to claim his 3rd European title (which he never lost in the ring). McKenzie, who had plied his trade in both the UK and America, won the British title in his previous fight, defeating the game but overmatched Scot Danny Flinn.

Would Magri regain the title he won in just his 3rd fight? Would the 23 year old McKenzie be getting the 30 year old, 34 fight veteran Magri at the right time? Or Would this be too big a step up for McKenzie at this stage and would he be caught up in the whirlwind that is Magri?

    Enjoy :good

Nice one Kos. I remember this fight, the general feeling was that Magri was ready to be taken at that point.

    Cheers, Kos.

Magri was pretty much done after Chitalada. The wear and tear on his body was catching up with him and he'd been inactive by his standards.

You can see from moments in this the problems Duke would have with Dave Mcauley though.

Yep, seemed like he'd lost quite a bit. Still had enough to cause Duke some problems though, especially early on!

Thought i'd share that aforementioned McKenzie vs. McAualey fight. Big upset at the time. Duke was undefeated and McAualey was coming off a couple of vicious fights with Bassa, which are a must see btw.
