I remember many years ago Tex flunked a drug test, a media guy asked him Tex what did you test positive for??

Cobb replied he was jogging on the beach in LA and some surfer dude blew Marijuana in his grill:nut..

Cobb was great, probably one of the most likeable boxers ever!!

Anyone know how he is holding up these days healthwise??

You're quote is pretty accurate. That quote is from a KO Magazine interview in late '83 or early '84 I believe. He took a year off and partied in Australia and blew his purse. Then, he did the KO interview before making a comeback in '84. I may still have that KO Mag. but not sure. I have lost many of the old mags. and some got torn apart in the many moves I have done since then.

If I remember correctly the actual quote was, "I resumed my strategy of stumbling forward and getting hit in the face."

If that stumbling forward quote was about after getting knocked down, it must have been after a later fight because I don't think Holmes dropped him. It may have been after his fight with Eddie Gregg. I Think Tex was dropped in that fight. I think the effects of the Holmes fight wore his chin out a bit. Tex lost his chin totally when club fighter Dee Collier floored him something like five times.

Someone on another thread said Tex would have made a great commentator. I was on you tube the other day and stumbled across the Bobby Czyz-Tim Broady fight from Jan. 85 which was promoted by the Houston Boxing Association (HBA). Tex was the commentator. He was very articulate and insightful. The effects of the punches hadn't taken hold yet. Jerry Quarry was also a good commentator in the late '70's before the Pugilista Dementia kicked in. I do wonder how Tex is doing these days. The hideous amount of blows he took must have had an impact on his mental facilities.

Tex had a cameo scene in Naked Gun 2 1/2 - The Smell of Fear when he plays a prisoner trying to 'befriend' Leslie Nielsen who is working undercover, posing as another prisoner.

He completed a University Degree in 2008 so I'd assume his brain is not too bad.

Can't remember the exact quote, but after the Cosell thing he said something like "Unless I cure cancer, I will never do a greater service for humanity"
