I've always respected the knowledge on the classic forum, and I just wanted to pose some questions to obtain some info for something that I plan to write. If you could please list the first three names that come to you mind after each category. Thanks so much in advance.

    1) best jab

    2) handspeed

    3) punching power

    4) left hook

    5) ring generalship

    6) chin/ punch resistance

    7) defense

    8) reflexes/timing

    9) countering ability

    10) heart

Each one is a thread on its own. Too much for one thread to really discuss anything, maybe.

Heart is an impossible question to answer unless you're Frazier's next door neighbor. Too many qualify. Why not Basilio, or Marciano, or Beau Jack?

As to left hook, yeah......gotta mention him I guess. He asked the three that first came to mind, and as an 80's guy I answered with what my mind responded with. My picks ain't bad either.

Two very good lists so far, I think. I won't do a complete list myself, as something like 90% of the names would already have been mentioned.

But let me just comment on 3 of the categories, where I belive someone deserves a shout:

    Handspeed: Floyd Patterson
    Left Hook: Bob Foster
    Heart: Joe Grim
