I got this video, the 12 greatest rounds of boxing, and the Hagler-Hearns first round is clearly part of the vid. Emanuel Steward in that video mentions it to Ferdie Pacheco about the broken hand, and that's the first Ferdie heard of it. This is not something that should be mentioned in this thread imo, Heanrs indeed didn't want it mentioned as he didn't want to take away from Hagler's moment.

Most of these guys have an excuse for losing, it is part of a fighter's belief that he cannot be defeated that is needed when you step in the ring.

This was legit. He ate an adulterated orange prior to his fight with julio mederos, which is why he collapsed without being hit. it was changed to a NC. So I dont see how this could be an exuse for a defeat if it was NOT a defeat, but a no contest.

Galento cracks me up. He also claimed he had Louis down twice.

    It gets better.

"That yellow hearted reff wouldn't let me continue".

He later blamed his loss on the fact that he was not alowed to foul Louis with impunity.

"I only lost because they threratend to donate my purse to charity if I fouled Louis".

    They became friends later.

"Of course Louis was the greatest ever. He beat me didn't he".
