    Povetkin did not look tremendous.

And he was blowing pretty hard after just four.

He's not using drugs any more (probably) and he's 38. Not a good combination.

Last nights fight proved 3 things.

    1) Parker is a very good fighter and deserves the Kudos & Recognition as such...
    2) the score cards were in no way accurate to the fight that took place.

    3) AJ is NOT a great nor elite fighter, he would swim with all the S-HWs sure, but the Very Best of even normal size HWs would best him.

Not what he was? Okay. But the field isn’t very good. Povetkin is a winner and still hits very hard.

I was disappointed with Parker in the last few rounds. It should have been clear to him by then he wasn’t going to win a decision so he should have gone for broke. Sure he could well have been KOed himself if he took that risk but that would have been the only way he could have won but he seemed content with gone the distance.

I took away from last night fight is this -

Who let that man be the referee

The judges had their scorecards filled out in advance

Joshua has plateaued and I no longer think he is a lock to beat Wilder

Povetkin has lost a step he is 38 going on 39. Still dangerous but no longer the favorite I would of made him 2-3 years ago over both Joshua and Wilder.

Parker - couldn’t solve the range height issue but has elite speed and a good chin.

Unfortunately all this smells a bit like the Klitschko tactical template has resurfaced in super heavyweight boxing. right down to having referees that break up exchanges.

Long arms has become key again.:drooling:

Ain that a good thing? For Joshua anyway, shows he’s not just a one trick pony.

I agree. Povetkin has the X factor and i’m Not talking peds. He carries an edge, a hunger not to lose. And still has pop. He may not win now but outside of the Wlad fight he has fought the most consistently fun fights at heavy in the last 10 years. Good fighter.

But you're on record - long arms are a disadvantage. It makes it easier for much shorter fighter to get under the much longer reach of the opponent and unload. Your words.

I know i’m Being sarcastic. But really the man was in over his head. His ineptness will only reaffirm the skeptics that the bout was not on the level. Not a good look.

No long arms is not Always such a dominant advantage in most other divisions outside HW. in recent times the walking pace of Superheavyweight boxing has made long arms a much stronger key issue among that sized man.

It can be a disadvantage to throw jabs at certain fighters who develop a style that invites jabs from which to work from. mike Tyson for example, he trained to work off his opponents jab. Later in his career he was foiled by feints that allowed Lewis and Douglas to utilise jabs more effectively but Tucker, Thomas, Bruno, Biggs and Holmes had no real success with jabs against Tyson when he was switched on.

I think you are twisting things again. But only enough to embarrass yourself.

It's a shame Povetkin wasn't entering his peak now as he's a very good fighter, imagine had he not come around in the era of SHW's.
