He accepted Pulev. In what universe is accepting something , turning something down?

You only want that to be the case to suit your agenda because you're a Wlad fanboy.

Taking a better offer , for more money , against a better and more dangerous fighter is not avoiding anybody no matter what way you try spin it.

 

You're delusional and everyone on this site knows it. No fan boyism over here I respect a great fighter that takes on the best his division has to offer and won for over a decade and goes out of his way to unify. Nothing wrong with that. You on the other hand have zero credibility. I don't wish to debate with you as I know it will be a pointless excercise. For the record I don't even dislike Fury although I did lose some respect with the stunt he pulled on Ustinov. Very hypocritical move by him, however if he beats Chisora I would like to see Wlad face him later in year after Jennings and Unification fights. Fury is a credible contender based on resume.

 

Pulev is an OK heavyweight, it takes a good man to beat him, but a good man will. Brave, and gave it a shot but too upright and no head movement. His resume? Win over 41 year old Tony Thompson and little else. Ustinov or Dimitrenko-nah, just fringe contenders at best who havent and wont make it. Like to see him in with Povetkin, even Takam, Perez or Jennings. He is solid and may comeback.

 

A few you mentioned will probably fare as well as Ustinov. Pulev's star wouldn't rise with a single name off of their bar Povetkin.

 

I agree that Povetkin would beat Pulev-be a good fight IMO. The other three are more dynamic than Pulev who is technically sound but one paced and not as explosive or as mobile. Pulev's best performances are against bigger, slower fighters.

 

fury is not good enough to beat wlad p2p, he doesn't hit hard enough and lacks the skills.

his real chance comes from being young and with a higher potential for fitness than wlad. He might well beat him today simply by outwrestling and outlasting him.

 

Lets wait and see how he looks next week , yeah?

Two bad performances in two years. Its understandable why nobody takes him seriously.

Would you call Pulev a Journeyman?

I think Pulev would decision Povetkin. Pulev's chin is all right. Wlad just hit him with some bombs. The last left hook was a knockout blow that few could hope to rise from.

 

It's that elbows way out defense/hand placement that's the problem. A big problem/fatal flaw. It sure does leave big openings for opponents. And it isn't as if they have to work for them, they are there from the opening bell.

I think Povetkin throws the kinds of punches to land clean through that defense of Pulev's. He really needs to work on his boxing radar for incoming punches with his arms like that. And it's too late for a heavyweight to try and be Chris Eubank all of a sudden.

 

Povetkin is a whole level better than Pulev. When in shape, Povetkin is special.

 

It is important to understand, that you really don't need a strong era to establish yourself as an all time great.

I don't think that Larry Holmes had one particularly outstanding challenger in his entire tenure.

He puts together combos better than any heavy around and as well as many of the best from the past. He works those hooks, left and right, in with his uppercuts extremely well. He has a nose for openings and angles. And he likes to attack.

Take Atlas out of the equation, allow his career to progress more, and I'm not sure he wouldn't have beaten Wlad.
