Crummy fight. Sparring session. Stiverne couldn't cut ring off to save his life.

I told you stiverne was losing. Go ahead and pretend I don't know what I m talking about in fantasy fight threads, I call the winners when it matters while you and the rest of these trash talkers continue to back the wrong man

I was impressed with Wilder, he answered a lot of questions and Stiverne showed a excellent chin. Wilder took some good punches and boxed well behind the jab. Wilder made a few mistakes, leading with an uppercut cost him but he won dominantly.

good thing Teddy Atlas picked Wilder by a 1st rd KO because I was going to bet Wilder by KO before 4 and I would have lost anyway, I really did not expect this fight to go the distance but Wilder had enough power to keep Stiverne at bay. That extra weight Stiverne carry's works 2 ways, it can make you strong but slow down your work rate, there were times he should have pressed but its easier said then done.

Still Stiverne has a great chin and Wilder can punch. Wilder also showed another side of himself and this was his step up. Like I said before I was not overly impressed with Stiverne, he has power and can take a punch but output is moderate.

good pick Mongoose, you were among the minority here and that says something about picking winners both from the past and present

I was wrong on this fight as well. I saw red flags based on Wilder's competition. However Stiverne disappointed all he did was pressure without punching, he tired and he didn't know how to cut off ring. Very disappointed in him. He would get destroyed by Wlad.

i'll reiterate that i thought that stiverne didnt have the speed or technique to box or outmanouvre him. so you either have to walk him down with a high guard and go to the body. he was pretty succesful at that. similar to starling-honeyghan. hurt or not you are looking for the long run.

    in fight that basicly happened.
and when it got to the 7th...it was pretty obvious that wilder was tired and open and stiverne just couldnt capitalise...or more to the point didnt know he could capitalise. i think he thought wilder would just crumble after he thrown his shots and was still got a guy coming to him. he knew that he wasnt going to outpoint him by then and just started to throw.

he is just a haitian chisora. can't let his hands go when he doesnt feel like he has a tempo.

^ good assessment. Also the fight began to tip in Stiverne's favor in the 4th he had good round than Wilder made a stand with a good fifth. In the sixth you could see Stiverne turning the tide he clearly won that round and was winning the 7th when he got caught and stunned he never regained momentum after that. Too tired and couldn't let his hands go.

Wilder is obviously better than we thought, but Wlad is still going to kill him.

Wilder straightened out his punches and his left hook was improved. However Stiverne looked real bad. Downright awful actually. I will give some credit to Wilder for that but it was a poor performance on Bermane's part.

Wlad and Wilder won't be in the ring together for at least a year. Wlad has two fights left on his HBO contract (who must be disappointed) they wanted Arreola to have the belt when they signed Wlad, and HBO doesn't work with Haymon.

We know that Wilder has his limitations, but the media is going to build him up into something huge. With a bit of luck, money will talk, and he will be in a mega unification showdown with Wlad. Once the contract is signed, it hardly matters whether he can live up to the hype.

Wilder showed us another dimension - eking back while jabbing, stepping in only if he rattled Bermane.

Strangely enough, despite Stiverne's manifesto of technical sins, he may have made that necessary dent had he concentrated on the body earlier. Wilder appeared to be hurt in the last round from a rib shot - had Bermane acknowledged that leaping hook was scouted he may have worked his way towards significant.

    Alas, the better man won.

Wilder-Fury should be fun, press conferences included.

This fight happened because Vitali Klitschko retired. He would have beaten either man last night at age 43. Wlad, who had Wilder in camp as a sparring partner said he could hit but he can't take it at all.

I must say I am surprised at the outcome. Wilder had never been past four rounds, was easy to hit and hurt, and I did not seem like a good thinker in the ring.

Wilder showed me something. Give him and his trainer full credit. He fought smart, used his mobility and jab, and found an easy patch for victory..

As for Stiverne, he was always a low punch out put / counter puncher type. He looked gassed and disinterested. He had no idea how to cut off the ring and when it was apparent he needed to get hit at least once to land his own, he either didn't have the stamina or heart to do it.

I felt the scorecards were a bit off ( a sign the judges were pro Wilder ) , but Wilder won easily. Is Wilder for real? Yes and no. He proved he belongs in the top ten last night, but I still think he's chin and very thin legs are going to cost him, as there are no fighters in the top ten today that throw as little or have as poor as stamina as Stiverne did last night.

Wilder is the first USA champion since Briggs ( 2007 ). His limitations won't mater. His bandwagon is going to be so full they will have to double up on the wheels.
