I'd like to see Murray win but he has zero chance. He won't even be successful in spurts.
He'll probably get body shotted out of there before the 10th.

You need speed and legs to beat GGG. There's nobody at MW to challenge him. Cotto is the lineal champ ffs. You can't even categorize that match up as a sporting event.

He needs to move up to 168 soon where its all happening.

There are far better fights at 160. Bar Ward--great scalp but likely to be a dull loss for GGG--and Froch, who is past his best but guaranteed to be an exciting s****, there is no one interesting with a big enough name.

The Dirrells aren't any more talented than HNDNJ. Canelo and Cotto are big money fights. Andy Lee can bang. And Khyrtov is coming up the ranks.

GGG can stay at middleweight, he just needs better opponents than he has been facing thus far. And there are some on the horizon.

As I said in another thread, I rather like Murray, and I would hope that he turns out to be to GGG what Randy Shields was to Pipino Cuevas...meaning, if it's not meant for him to beat the Beast, then at least, I hope his chin and defensive skills allow him to survive to the distance, like Shields did with Cuevas...that is if Murray has Shields defensive savvy. Another scenario, less likely, is that Murray witll be to GGG what Ezzard Charles was to Rocky Marciano in their FIRST bout...but that would mean being able to suck it up and take it like Charles did.

Murray is a bog standard European stylist. He is going to get battered, but might last the distance through size, toughness and a tight guard.

That's what I'm hoping...I sympathize with the guy, being the possible victim of home cooking vs Martinez and Sturm.

I saw no issues with the Sturm decision (Macklin did better than Murray IMO) and the Martinez fight was very close. Murray would've won had the knockdowns been counted.

Incidentally, does Cotto have a case for being the worst lineal middleweight champ ever?

I think he'd be a good natural middleweight in any era.

In the old days he'd never have been a light welter and he'd have fit in well with the tonnes of welters who took fights at middleweight.

Okay, he's never gonna be a great middleweight champ at this stage of this career or this era, but I think he might've beaten Benvenuti in one of his s h I ttier performances--or maybe Pastor or Antufermo or summat.

I'm not sure he'd be trying to fight middleweights in a good era, Flea.

if he'd fought in the 60s-80s i'd see him as a second-tier natural Welter(ie Ranzany, Shields, Stracey, Muniz etc he'd win some lose some in that sort of company) that might opt to campaign at 154 for easier weight-making and better chance of a belt(usually).

He'd get sent packing or beaten into decline quite quickly if he tried to mix in a good middleweight era imo.sub-world class for sure. That mediocre durability and stamina wouldn't hold up and he's not nearly skilled enough to compensate against fighters this size.

GGG is going to go down as an ATG at middle. He hits a ton, and puts pressure on his opponents. In a pound for pound sense he's a two fisted Joe Frazier type ( With a jab ) and a much much better chin.

Speed and legs alone won't do it vs GGG. An A+ chin, nerves of steel, and a reach advantage, are needed as well. That guy would have a chance.

Murray does not hit hard enough to change any of Golvokin's plans. He's getting stopped for the first time in his career.

He could, but he might not have the time. He's old, and the big fights might be at 168.

Golovkin has not fought the opposition needed to say he has a much, much better chin than Frazier.

I hope death finds you soon for even suggesting such a thing tbh.
